"Am I really who you want?"
They stared at the blank planes on his head where a normal person's face should should be.
He spoke in such gentleness that no other comfort can compare to whatever they can remember to have experienced. Unlike what happens in their head. It's nothing short of a disaster. A hurricane. Thought after thought, indifferent to the reality in front of their face. Unable to accept that this might be right, no matter how good it feels.
"Do I really deserve this love? Your love?"
They spoke in such a hurried whisper, holding their breath for a second. Not wanting to dive head first. Not wanting to face the possible consequences of the indulgence this feeling brings. Not with their bloodstained hands, hands that tightened around the prickling stem of the flower they held and only being grounded in reality by the grip of his over theirs. Heart and mind racing, neither being able to best the other.
He looked at them with such softness that it could almost threaten tears unto anyone if his gaze were to happen upon them. His words does things where it can turn them against their own mind instantly and betray whatever worries would strangle it.
"More than you can ever imagine."
And in the tangled mess of who they are, what they are, maybe it is right.
