FAIRY TAIL EPISODE 310 (Season 3 Episode 33)
"Pleasure and Pain"
I love how the story is linking so well with things that were set up in the start of Fairy Tail - like how Natsu and Gray always used to fight each other and Erza was the one who stopped them and this sequence has repeated itself all throughout the anime up to this episode even. It's like a golden thread that connects the beginning with the end, and everything in between.
And yet still the story is always surprising me with new information, but not totally out of the blue. It builds on previously set up storylines. Like how we knew about Natsu, Zeref and Igneel. Then we find out how these three are connected in the first place. Then we find how Zeref and Mavis are connected. Then we find out Zeref has a son. Then we find out Mavis is the mother. And so on. These are just a few examples but there is so much that has been revealed all throughout this season. It's been very exciting.
I don't like very much how every other episode, the anime shows a couple of scenes of these "random", nameless characters (like the brown haired girl I pointed out in my reaction of this episode). I wish they'd focus more on giving some screen time to character we actually care about, even if it's just for an extra couple of seconds. I feel there's no point in showing us these nameless characters - since they don't care about them anyway, the animation of these scenes are usually very bad. Sometimes it's even been just "stills" and voices, but their mouths are not even moving.
The visuals of the episode, just like the rest of the season in my opinion, has been quite inconsistent. There are scenes where the visual and animation looks amazing! But then there are less important scenes or characters where it's just so obvious that they didn't care about detail and just quickly put it in... Hmm. On one hand I know it's natural to care more about certain episodes than others, but I feel like the difference is too big sometimes. Like whenever Irene is on screen omg so beautiful and so much detail! But then in the same episode they show those kind of "stills" where the mouths aren't even moving and that big jump from average to GREAT visuals makes it more noticeable. But all in all, this episode wasn't too bad.
Larcade's magic made me a little uncomfortable in this episode (nervous laugh)... I'm a fan of fan service, but at some point I wasn't sure if I was watching Fairy Tail or some hentai... (*/_\) I was so looking forward to Larcade and his character and this just put me off - but NOT that he is a bad character, it's just "personal taste" like how not everyone likes dark chocolate. There's nothing wrong/right with dark chocolate essentially, it just comes down to each person's preference and yeah I was just turned off by who he turned out to be (not sure what I expected lol he is a bad guy after all... but considering that even August is a bad guy and I still like/respect him as a character, just because I knew Larcade was going to be bad doesn't mean I should've expected him to be LIKE THIS, you know??) anyway Interesting quote:
"Good and evil do not exist in light and darkness. Perhaps the only thing that could be called "good"... is love." - August
My favourite scene this episode:
When Juvia and Lucy joined Gray and Natsu and especially the way Lucy hugged Natsu from behind uwu it was sooo sweet
What I look forward to most from the preview:
Those two characters that look like Natsu's parents! I would love to see if it's really them and learn more about them.
Episode score out of 10: 7
