like people want this duality to exist where jgy is the Bad Guy and nmj is the Good Guy and lxc is a hapless victim tricked by the devious liar jgy but they’re all so much more nuanced and interesting than all that - jgy of course has done awful things, but I don’t think nmj’s response to that was fair or just or appropriate, and jgy did lie to and manipulate lxc but lxc is still a sect leader and an adult and and bore some responsibility for doing what was right, and all three of them are flawed individuals in some way or another, and I’m not letting jgy off the hook here I know he’s a mass murdering liar who manipulated someone close to him in order to torture his loved one to death and who married his sister knowingly and tormented and murdered a ton of innocent women and assassinated his infant son but lxc and nmj didn’t have to deal with the bigotry and disdain and cruelty that jgy did and they still fucked up so I don’t like to position jgy as the most evil and lxc and nmj as completely innocent and just either because it just feels like it’s playing into the ugliest of the prejudices about the cultivation world and also missing the entire gd point of the uselessness and cruelty of high-level sect politics
