Conformitygate proofs and byler Easter eggs:
HIMYM, Ralph Macchio, Eric Stolz and Madonna’s “Angel”
So, today we discovered that if you sync The Scorcer’s ending with WSQK, you get Madonna’s Angel accompanying that scene. And after that I accidentally found this:
1. This is the opening scene of 3x03, starting with this very song in the scene leading to El, trying to see if Mike’s planning to ask her to take him back.
As we know, he dgaf. And this is the same episode in which byler’s rain fight happens after which Mike will rush to Will to apologise. Keep that in mind to follow later why Ralph Macchio is crucial.*
2. Now, we need to drag the attention to HIMYM: today I reblogged a post where I shared my opinion on how the DB must’ve referred to it. “How I Met Your Mother” is infamous for its ending, and as we know, the DB explored bad endings. HIMYM is as much iconic for this matter as GoT atp. What they could refer to: changing the obvious awaited endgame to the unneeded one after a long way of building up the two main ones (both were ruined for coming back to that - out of nowhere).
3. So, okay, after the shot with Ralph Macchio in 3x03, I went to look up info about him, as it was obvious that the DB wanted us to focus on him.
First things I found were these:
How I Met Your Mother once again? BRO mitzvah?
Happily divorced? Two guys, one girl and a pizza place??! Sounds familiar or??
And then even better:
Good, huh???
And what about HIMYM?
I thought we’ve been himym’ed just by ruined endgames but as it turns out, not only! I checked what Ralph Macchio’s episode was about:
Does it remind you of anything? Like anything, where it was “a perfect set-up to make him think his life was ruined” — but then “the plan appears to satisfy all his requests”?
(Inconvenient truth, a clown, a character named Robin are bonuses + don’t forget the name of the episode which is “The Bro Mitzvah” which might be a reach but a fun one!)
This episode might be also a reference for Henry’s redemption arc as Barney here likes a villain and not a hero from his favourite movie (starring Ralph Macchio). Years later the “villain” played by William Zabka got his redemption arc too!

So basically what do we have here:
1. The play is flop because two actors are not right. Something something gay best friend with whom they what? kiss. Male and female characters go separate ways in the end.
(The movie’s name “Naked in New York” is interesting too after queer-coded “Mike in Manhattan”, but mb a reach)
2. I looked up info for Eric Stolz, with whom was that Ralph Macchio’s gay kiss and firstly found another connection to “Fast Times” mentioned in s4 (but okay, not that important) and secondly:
that he was supposed to perform as the main lead in Back to the Future but was focusing on another way of reading the script. Tragic vs Comedic. So he was fired after trying to play tragically and the movie now exists as we know it. Is it also a reach? For changing the narrative? Stopping the first one and starting over? No idea. But given that it is one more Back to the Future connection, it’s just wild.
(Bonus points for the last sentence regarding BTTS about how tragic it is to live not your own life.)
To sum up:
• Madonna’s “Angel” in 3x03 foreshadows byler rain fight where Mike cares about Will after a fight but doesn’t care much about El. This song was synced with The Sorcerer (5x04).
• Ralph Macchio in 3x03, played at least two gay characters (one was kissing his best friend) foreshadowed the rain scene + the pizzeria’s plot in season 4! *That’s why I said his pic was crucial.
• Eric Stolz is a kisser of Ralph Macchio in the film about the bad play with two not right actors; who also had a part in Back to the Future which was changed after he left.
• HIMYM disappointed the audience changing the initial endgame + had Ralph Macchio in the episode about allegedly ruined party which indeed was perfectly planned and satisfied all requests. (+ a hint to Henry’s redemption arc).
