The Alan Parsons Project
The Alan Parsons project isn’t a prog rock band, it’s two cute werewolves disguised as musicians
The debut album by The Alan Parsons Project was released on 25 June 1976.
Alan Parsons met songwriter Eric Woolfson when Woolfson was playing piano on a recording session Parsons was working on, and Woolfson told him an idea about making an album based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe.
Recorded with musicians Parsons had worked with including Ambrosia, Pilot, and Terry Sylvester of the Hollies, Tales of Mystery and Imagination received mixed reviews when it was released but it peaked at #38 in the US

Yknow, a 1996 musical by Eric Woolfson featuring songs from his time in The Alan Parsons Project, alongside a bunch of new compositions, based on Dostoyevksy and Pushkin, set in Las Vegas, that has only been staged in Germany and South Korea, doesn't SOUND like something that would have had any chance to take off in the mainstream musical world.
But listening to Gambler? This shit slaps. Way more people need to know about this.
