She’s saying umima again. Erin PLEASEEEEE
King of duels preview is out and you know what? Erin was better than I feared. I like her take on Klb! I do wish she was more careful with pronouncing names, cause I noticed she drastically changed klbkch’s full name’s pronunciation, and got beza’s name slightly wrong. That’s just a nitpick though. I think my other gripe is that it felt too fast.
All that being said, the best part was absolutely her Erin voice. It’s completely perfect. It’s not Andie’s Erin, but if I’m allowed to be frank, andies erin is sometimes too much for me. Man there are too many Erins this is getting confusing.
Erin’s narration style is a bit more “narration” rather than “performance” in the way that Andie does it, but this is in no way bad. It was a bit of a shock, because I now read the web novel in andie’s voice, but the people griping about it on YouTube are being too picky. Going back and relistening to the early volumes are hard because andie simply wasn’t as good when she was recording the original twi book. Going from the rewrite into fae and fare IS jarring because of how audibly Andie has grown from those books to the world-class performer we see now. This change will feel a little rocky, but guess what? We get to sit with another performer as she learns and grows and improves. In ten books, what will Erin have evolved into? I cannot wait.
This is good. Erin’s done a good job at stepping into some insanely daunting seven-league boots and we know she’s done her homework. We just have to support her.
!!
Listening to king of duels, and erinnnnnnnn
Chaldion and grimalkin’s voices are very well-done
I think what I dislike about Erin Bennett as a narrator is the obvious fact that she didn’t listen to the audiobooks. Beza’s name being mispronounced, and now Halrac and Rasea keep yanking me out of the story when I hear their names pronounced weird for what I’ve been listening to for the last 15 books. Honestly it’s mostly just a nitpick.
She’s still a great narrator, and I’m really enjoying her take on some of the characters voices! I really love her Grimalkin!! Tomast was wonderful! The drowned folk voices are also REALLY fucking cool. And she’s fantastic at the antinium. I just wish she stayed with the consistency of the pronounciation
Also baffling that she’s getting typhenous pronounced right when there’s only three visible syllables with the mysterious eee bit
On either side of the border there are two tweens who are forming an unlikely friendship.
Favourite Retro Ships
Happy Valentine’s Day guys and gals! Some people go all out for Valentine’s Day though I’ve always been a bit meh on the whole thing. However, I’m a big fan of romance in books so it seems kinda wrong to let this day go past without a post about some of my favourite ships.
Now, I don’t mean actual ships here but book couples that I ‘shipped’ before I even knew the term (maybe even before it was…
