For those of you of a northern hemisphere persuasion, here's a er 'taster' of the inevitable Netflix documentary coming to you later this year (probably in time for watching after Thanksgiving/Christmas lunch).
TL:DNR version Erin Patterson invited a bunch of friends and family around to her house for a lunch of beef Wellington. She'd foraged the mushrooms for the Wellington, three of the guests later died from eating it, another was seriously ill.
She's now on trial for three counts of murder and one of attempted murder.
The jury is expected to give its decision next week...

Erin Patterson is an Australian woman from Korumburra, South Gippsland, who allegedly attempted to kill her ex-husband Simon, his parents Gail and Don, his aunt Heather and pastor Ian. Erin and Simon’s two children were also in attendance, but she gave them a different meal. Simon was supposed to be at the lunch but pulled out at the last minute which saved his life. Erin cooked her guest's wild death cap mushrooms inside a Beef Wellington. Gail, Don, and Heather all died after falling ill the day after lunch. Ian was the only survivor after having a liver transplant.
Patterson had dumped her food dehydrator at the rubbish tip in Koonwarra the day after she served her four victims lunch. Erin and Simon had broken up years before but remained in contact for the children's sake. Erin had allegedly attempted to kill Simon previously from nightshade plants which can be fatal and can contain poisonous alkaloids. In May 2022 he ended up in an induced come for 16 days, it was alleged that he suspected he had been poisoned.
Erin who was arrested and is now in a protection unit has proclaimed her innocence, but the public became suspect after she was filmed crying without any tears in her eyes.
