They. Are. DISASTERS. The self-loathing. The sass. The DRAMA. The struggle to hold their emotions back. They would bounce through so many quadrants like pingpong balls, not even they would know where they'd land minute to minute. The stupid arguments would be legendary.

And yet. I think it could work.

They are all romantics (even Sollux, see how he is with Feferi). They wear their demons openly. Karkat can give good advice. Sollux is efficient and practical when the circumstances call. Eridan is surprisingly strong. All three are more equipped to help the problems of the others in this triad than one might suspect at a glance. I love imagining them being pale together and cuddling. I love imagining them choking each other out and yelling in the pitch fits. I love imagining them taking turns to kiss when they go flush. I love imagining the panic of whoever is stuck mediating when they go ashen (it's not always Karkat) and the painstakingly stupid compromises ("dude. You can't ask Eridan not to wear his cape when we go out, that's like his security blanket-" "-THE FUCK IT'S NOT-" "-you have to deal. We can get him to stop being an asshole about which utensils to use when we eat in public though, that's fair, he's a shithead for that").

The good ending of Homestuck is the three of them leaving the narrative to have a sitcom together in my brain no one can stop me

Trying out a new drawing application. Good app, tiring to work in. You can see where I started getting lazy (namely Sollux’s leg, oops. I should’ve fixed that).

This took me several hours to do, and I’m proud of it- so obviously Tumblr isn’t going to approve. Oh fucking well.

you know what fuck it im typing this out. erisolsprite/karkat ship analysis under the cut.

okay so the thing with erisol/karkat is the degree of history karkat has with both eridan and sollux.

karkat and eridan were good friends, in canon it seems like they edge almost into pale territory. karkat listens to eridan at times no one else would. i have no doubt that he somewhat understands eridans plight with quadrants, if indirectly (eridan has difficulty just because he doesnt know how to woo people and karkat has trouble because quadrants are far more likely to find out his blood color). its implied that they were even closer before the game began, and that karkat missed their old relationship. they could have easily gone red for each other.

sollux is another old friend. a lot of their early conversations read like two young boys with pitch puppy crushes on each other, constantly jumping back from each other and going “ewwwww no romo!” karkat cares about sollux a fuck of a lot, im pretty sure the first time we see karkat cry is in response to sollux’s first death. and sollux believes in karkat, even if he has a funny way of showing it. he knows karkat is the leader the team needs. they have a constant loop of fighting and friendship that always ends in “are we still friends?” when sollux says hes going to power the meteor with the last of his power, karkat wants to stop him. when sollux half-dies, karkat pleads with him to stay on the meteor. they, too, could easily have gone red for each other.

then we have eridan and sollux’s relationship with each other. they disagree on almost everything. they come from two different worlds, royalty and peasantry, perfection and abnormality, grace and chaos. it doesnt help that the entire feferi affair basically made them mortal enemies, although eridan cared more about that than sollux. when they became erisol, the conflicting emotions were so powerful that they canceled each other out, leaving erisol to float miserably around the medium with no one but his own internal turmoil for company.

now, i want you to picture this. picture erisol resigning himself to an eternity in that state, miserable but unable to disappear. no friends because theres no one his two halves can agree on. almost apathetic in his self-loathing. then karkat finds him. karkat hears two of his closest friends are back, if in a slightly strange way. imagine erisol seeing karkat for the first time and realizing there’s one thing he agrees with himself on no matter what: karkat is a friend. karkat is a safe place. imagine karkat going to talk to erisol when the pressures of the game become too much. imagine erisol offering him nuggets of sprite wisdom along with the occasional awkward hug. imagine erisol realizing both sides of him had a flush crush on karkat all along. imagine him forcing himself to admit it. imagine karkat seeing this bizarre creature, this hap-hazard mashup of the two friends he cared about so much and almost lost forever, and seeing in his eyes everything hed ever loved about eridan and sollux. imagine erisol coming to love being himself, because, as one person, his two halves can finally have someone that is perfect for them. as one person, erisol can finally be happy. and karkat wants to be there to witness and share every second of that happiness.
