This stunning silk Victorian gown has been featured in multiple productions over the years!   In 1981, Lynsey Baxter wore the costume as Ernestina in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘩 𝘓𝘪𝘦𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵’𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯.   Two decades later, in 2001, Shirley Henderson wore the piece as Marie Melmotte in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘺 𝘞𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘸.   Oh, and let’s not forget that Catherine Steadman was seen in the dress as Tilly Bassett in 𝘈𝘯 𝘖𝘭𝘥-𝘍𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘴!   Find out more: Bit.ly/VicEd112

she has so much cool history and i have fond childhood memories on her. (there was a bucket of goldfish and i have never stopped pining for it.) the crew made me an official nametag as "ship's cutie-pie" (and one as captain that i refused to wear bc i didnt want the responsibility). i was so sad she was out of the water so long that in 7th grade i wrote a letter pleading ma to fund her restoration more and get her sailing again.

The port quarter of the schooner Ernestina  ... with a pretty impressive boom.

On February 5, 1894, a single line in the Gloucester Daily Times recorded an addition to the Massachusetts fishing fleet: "The new schooner for J.F. Wonson and Co. has been named Effie M. Morrissey." This marked the commonplace birth of a schooner that would become famous not only as Grand Banks fisher, but also as arctic expeditionary vessel under the command of Capt. Robert Abram Bartlett and World War II survey vessel under Commander Alexander Forbes. After a galley fire in 1947 the MORRISSEY was raised and renamed ERNESTINA to serve in the trans-Atlantic Cape Verdean packet trade operated by Henrique Mendes. In 1982 she was given by the Republic of Cape Verde to the people of the United States as a symbol of the close ties between the lands.
