Terence Crawford stops Errol Spence in the 9th round!
Listen, I picked Bud by late stoppage but I thought Spence was going to put on a decent showing of himself but he was completely outgunned from the rip. Bud dominated this one completely.
Spence could not get downhill. For all the talk about his power, the man is a volume puncher who relies on grinding down his opponents with his size and output before putting them away. Problem is, he could not get Crawford to do that. Crawford out jabbed Spence, keeping the fight in the center of the ring. And the jab was bothering Spence. The first knockdown came off a 2-1 as Spence tried to retreat off the cross. It was more balance than being rocked but it was indicative of how Spence was forced to operate in Crawford’s space. When Spence could get inside, he had very little success. Crawford would was landing same-hand parry counters, slipping or leaning out of the way of Spence’s shots and just blasting him with return fire without having to concede space. It was masterful.
In a week where we were supposed to see 4 great boxers tested, we instead got two shut out performances from two of the best boxers in the world today. Crazy how that works.
