#OneNETnewsFindsOut: Canada eyes potential participation to Eurovision Song Contest in next year's hosting event and beyond after Austria amid budget and licensing constraints

QUEBEC, CANADA -- Weeks after this year's Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) after winning the Filipino-Austrian singer 'JJ' (real name 'Johannes Pietsch'), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) quietly in talks with national public broadcaster 'Canadian Broadcasting Corporation' (CBC) to potentially join ESC in Canada, similar but legally outside of Europe like Australia.
37 participating countries meet to perform in hosting next year's event in Austria by 2026. They never heard about Canadian jury votes and public televotes in Canada before. Almost as bad news, CBC confirms securing the licensing and public broadcasting rights to EBU is prohibitively expensive to run the annual event on national television.
Disney XD News found out exclusively that the Canadian invitation to ESC is currently yet in the works, who coordinates the song contest to express immediate interest: "Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is the only public broadcaster that could hypothetically hope to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest", a spokesperson of EBU said.
In previous years of ESC, Swedish-Canadian songwriter 'Laurell Barker' co-written the songs on their behalf in every specific nation of Europe. 'Céline Claudette Dion' is temporarily represented in Switzerland since Dion is from her hometown of Quebec as a French-Canadian individual. She won the contest after beating the United Kingdom in 2nd Place and Denmark ranked 3rd Place, leaving the last one at #21 in Austria got zero (0) public televotes, as well as participating in the country's jury vote in February 1988.
As the speculations between the EBU and national public broadcaster 'CBC', the up-and-coming singers would have another competitive outlet to showcase their Canadian talents on the international stage to the European audience for the first time. Negotiations remain ongoing between the EBU and CBC regarding Canada's potential participation in the Eurovision Song Contest sometime next year in Austria and beyond.
Maybe, if Canadians win outside Europe as legally planned, they will host the very first ESC in Canada. So as that, good luck to the new performers out there.
