My opinions on the first semifinal
First I'll talk about the performances, then a general opinion thing and then the qualifiers and nq
(Don't expect me to get into politics)
Performances
Moldova:
Damn that was CRAZY, I love Moldova's song so much and the live performance really stood up to my expectations at least. I didn't expect one of the girls to become La Zarra but I'm definetly not against it.
Sweden:
Imma be honest here, I'm not really a fan of My System. It's not that I don't like it, I just wouldn't put it in my personal playlist. With that said, I loved the staging, I'm a sucker for neon lights.
Croatia:
This song reminds me of the Tautumeitas and the Tanxungeiras in the best way possible. I don't usually listen to this type of music but for some reason when it's in Eurovision I EAT IT UPPPP. The part where the girl in white was floating was cool to me at least, and the last chorus? DAMN the last chorus.
Greece:
Why this man so whimsical? But now fr I liked the song before but the stage performance is so funnnn! I definetly didn't expect the Greek statue and the part where he went through the stage with the scooter made me actually laugh. Ferto is so fun, we need more fun in Eurovision.
Portugal:
I felt so bad for this guys dude 😭. They just seemed so nice and looked like they where having so much fun, singing their song and stuff. But it was clear they weren't going to go to the final and I felt like I just kicked a puppy but at least they were able to enjoy their performance, the audience had their phones lit up and everything so that was nice :)
Georgia:
Nope nope nope nope, the AI graphics were so ugly bro. I know Greece had those too, but not all the time and less noticeable (Still not a fan of it tho) BUT THEY WERE SO UGLY I CAN'T. I feel like they could have done so much with the choreography and stuff, but it ended up being so cheapppp. Didn't like it sorry.
Italy:
One of my favorite songs of the year. I love happy upbeat songs and this one definetly fits the criteria. I love how they kept the dancers from the music video and the whole song just being the husband getting ready for his wedding and then the couple dancing together, it somehow made me so emotional. Sal was a bit nervous but I can't really blame him and the Italian flag on the dress was definetly something. Apart from that it was amazing and I hope it ends up top 10 at least.
Finland:
As a violinist, I have a soft spot for this song. Apart from that, it's catchy and sososo EPICCC, I would definetly be happy if they won. But GIRL, can you relax a little when playing???? Your bow will be bald by the time the final arrives at this rate like DAMN.
Montenegro:
I didn't like this song when I first heard it but it has grown on me with time (a week) somehow I expected more flashing lights and camera angles a getting a seizure from watching the perfomance. Still held up pretty well tho.
Estonia:
Was it just me or did they have a bunch of little voice cracks? And the kick in slomo was... Definetly a choice. And that's a shame bacause I did like the song and the outfits were really cute. (Also is it just me or did one of the cameras record from the stairs at one point?)
Israel:
This guy sung live like he did in the music video DAMN, I love how he sings. The only thing I didn't really like id how the audience only saw a diamond spinning for like the first 30 seconds of the song. Still liked it though.
Germany:
Nothing wrong with the song itself, it's giving girlbop but nothing more tbh. The dance break looked so much like a copy of Chanel's and the dress at the start was meh for me. Still cool effects.
Belgium:
I expected her to sing etter live tbh. And for a song called Dancing On The Ice I thought she would be, you know, dancing more? But I loved her outfit and the parts where there was snow were really pretty!
Lithuania:
This song is a guilty pleasure of mine. The subtitles bit made me laugh ngl, of course the fact that Solo Quiero Más has the chorus in Spanish makes me like it a bit more automatically and stuff. But apart from that I find this guy genuinely funny and being silver definetly makes him stand out.
San Marino:
I'm sorry SENHIT, I don't care how many times you have been to Eurovision, this is NOT your personal concert, you cannot just shut up and leave the audience and the bg vocals to fill the last chorus 😭. And tf was Boy George doing? He sang like two verses but HEY! LOOK AT THIS GUY YOU DEFINETLY REMEMBER! LOOK AT HIM! HE'S FAMOUS! (I like the song itself tho)
Poland:
SLAY VOCALSSSS!!! Everything about the staging was perfect for the song and I don't see anything wrong with it. Just a queen slaying over here guys!
Serbia:
They're so edgy and so cool. I love edgy. I know I said something different earlier but I love edgy too shhh. They sold the staging really well, I love edgy bands in Eurovision.
General opinion
First of all: I don't like the hosts. I'M SORRY! I feel like they don't bring anything new to the table and they didn't make me laugh NOT EVEN ONCE (I mostly cringed tbh but oh well, at least they try to be funny so that's something)
The opening was really pretty, I liked it, loved the decade Eurovision recap.
The Prater interval act was GORGEUSSSS I didn't even realise how much time I spent watching it after it finished, I couldn't unglue my eyes from the screen.
OMG IS THAT GOJO FROM AUSTRALIA 2025!? THE ONE AND ONLY MILKSHAKE MAN!?? ONE OF THE MOST ROBBED ENTRIES IN THE STORY OF EUROVISION SONG CONTEST!??? THAT GOJO!????
The Austria vs Australia song was kinda cringe tho
Some bits about it were funny but most of it was... uh... Austrulalia (That was actually funny thank you Gojo for existing)
Qualifiers
I alredy said most of my opinions so I'll just say a couple points
How did Belgium get through??? I thought it was gonna be Montenegro. I mean, like I said I like the song don't get me wrong, it was just unexpected lol (There are any songs I like that I expect to not qualify)
Lithuania qualifying was a relief for me to be honest, my family is going to watch the final with me, JUST THE FINAL, and I thought it'd be nice that they could hear a song that's partially in Spanish giving that we are not participating. (Also Lion's reaction was so me actually)
Overall I'm pretty happy with the results, but the second semifinal is a stronger one so we'll see we'll see
