After another week of weirdness, Dahlia approaches Taehyung. She’s tired of Vanessa ignoring her, tired of Jungkook hiding out and avoiding the fact that anything is wrong; she just wants things to go back to normal.
“Tae, I can’t do this anymore.” Dahlia sits on the edge of Tae’s bed in the dorm. It’s early, most of the island inhabitants are still sleeping, but Dahlia knows Tae hasn’t gone to bed yet, still up playing on his computer. “I feel like I’m losing both of my friends. Something needs to be done because they’re both obviously too stubborn to attempt to work this out.”
Tae pauses his game before resting his chin between his thumb and forefinger, his eyebrows furrowing as he takes in her concerns. A sly smile forms on his face and his eyebrows raise.
“So we need to find a way to get both of them together, unable to avoid each other, with no interruption?”
“Yes, Tae,” her voice is full of exasperation, “how else will they be able to talk and work out this issue, which in all honesty you played a major role in.”
Tae looks taken aback at her accusation.
“Me? How did I…oh, yeah,” he chuckles as he seems to reminisce on the situation quite intensely in his mind, licking his lips at the thought.
“Tae, can you please be serious for a moment? We’re talking about two people we care a lot about. There is the possibility that one of them quite honestly would leave the island if we don’t fix this, like ASAP.”
He begins thinking hard, thoughts going through his mind, some ideas making him giggle to himself. He then seems to have an “AHA” moment. He stares at her as if she should be able to read his mind, wide-eyed with his big boxy smile.
“Sooo, are you going to tell me what you’re thinking? Or just sit there with that ridiculous look on your face?”
Tae snaps out of his trance, a small shake of his fringe to move it out of his face.
“Right. How about we organize a game tournament? We could create a bracket and make sure that it ends with myself and Jungkook, head to head for the final battle? Tekken7 would be perfect!”
She waits for him to finish, but he just looks at her with a smug look, as if he has created the perfect plan.
“So that’s it? Just a tournament?”
He just nods his head eagerly.
“You aren’t just saying this because you love to play games?”
“Well, that’s part of it, but there’s more. First, let’s invite Jungkook, Jimin, Jin, Talia, Angel, Vanessa, and a couple of other girls. There’s no point if they won’t come. Once they all agree, I’ll tell you my plan, which, by the way, is definitely going to work.” He smiles. “Trust me.”
The look on his face confirms for Dahlia that he is serious. He must have the best idea in the world because his smile hasn’t faded since he finished talking.
She hesitates, unsure if a game night is the way to go.
“Taehyung, are you sure? I mean, we need to get them both together, in an environment that’s a little less ‘hostile’ don’t you think?
“Dahlia,” his voice rumbles deeply, “just send out the notice, I promise this plan will work.”
Dahlia nods and heads back to the Wings house to charge her phone so she can start the plan. She quickly wrote out a message to spread the news of wanting to host a Tekken7 Game Night and was able to round up a group of people to play, including Jin, Jimin, a few of the girls, and of course Jungkook. She didn’t tell him that Taehyung would be there as well.
Vanessa POV
On the day of the event Taehyung had invited you to, the sky is cloudless, a soft blue spreading for miles as you look out at the ocean view from the upstairs window. It’s been almost a month that you’ve gone without talking to Jungkook. For you, it feels like a lifetime.
You zone out a little, but you finally have some free time and the view in front of you helps you decompress before sitting watching people play video games. You aren’t so big into them, but all of your friends are, so you aren’t unaccustomed to sitting and watching them play.
The sound of the cheers have you turning back to the crowd of friends sitting around the TV mounted to the wall. Jin just beat one of the girls on the island, Sara, and is celebrating with his usual loud cheering. Sara gets up, allowing another person to take her spot, and you move back over to where Taehyung is sitting, waiting for his turn with the controller.
Sara passes the controller over to Tae, who sits in the gaming chair she just vacated, and you pull a pillow up to sit next to Tae.
“Why did you invite me? You knew he was going to be here.” You whisper to Tae while everyone is talking about the match that just ended.
“Because I wanted to spend time with you. You need to stop moping around, Ness.”
You sigh, knowing deep down that he’s right about the moping. You aren’t so sure your mischievous friend really wanted to spend time with you.
It was spectacular actually, watching the event. You try your hardest, but you can’t keep your eyes off of Jungkook. The intensity in his eyes when he plays reflects from the screen, and you just want to kiss his stupid pouting lips every time he doesn’t like how a combo move turns out against his opponent.
You feel bad for Talia when she loses to Jungkook, and the room suddenly gets hot when you realize what this means. Jungkook is the winner of his side of the bracket; opponent none other than Taehyung. The way they look at each other is enough for you to feel the tension in the room, even if no one else notices it.
“Ness, come sit next to me! I need your good luck.” Tae waves you over, so you slowly made your way to the pillow next to his gaming chair, avoiding making eye contact with Jungkook at that moment. It’s much easier once you’re sat on the pillow; he has no way of watching you if he’s in battle with Tae without standing up and being obvious about it. Oh, and of course losing the game.
The tense vibe in the room is easily displaced onto this being the final match, despite knowing better, but you gladly let that be the reason for everyone watching. You can hear them murmuring about the death glare Jungkook shot at Tae, but you refuse to look away from the loading screen as the match boots up.
“Alright, anyone want to make a bet?” You hear Jimin chime in as the players ready themselves, but you become engrossed once it starts and you don’t hear if anyone takes him up on the offer.
As the two characters, Zafina (Tae) and Fahkumran (Jungkook), battle on screen, you feel like Jungkook is taking his anger and channeling it into the game. His character is massive and absolutely obliterating Zafina.
Taehyung, growing antsy at his losing status, reaches out an arm and pushes Jungkook playfully. He has to drop an arm to the floor to maintain his balance, allowing Taehyung the chance to get a few combo blows in on him before he is able to resume full game play. You roll your eyes at Tae, hating that he’s resorting to cheating to win. It’s one of the things you hate the most when people would cheat at games. You and Jungkook have that in common.
You glance over and see Jungkook’s face, eyebrows furrowed in anger and concentration as he reclaims his lead. His ears are turning red, and you can’t help but feel a twinge in your heart for him. Tae repeats his movement, shoving Jungkook a little harder this time, and you look at Tae sharply. You debate saying something because he’s not playing fair, but before you get a chance, Dahlia’s voice is cutting across the sound of the game.
“Tae, stop cheating! Play fair or you're disqualified.” Her voice is stern and Tae gives a sheepish grin but keeps his hands to himself for the rest of the game. Which is roughly another 10 seconds, as his last shove to Jungkook allowed him to overpower Fuhkumran and Zafina is crowned the winner.
“Fucking bullshit!” Jungkook hurls the controller at the wall, where it falls with a thud to the carpeted floor. The group who’d been watching along quietly look at each other before they shrug and file out of the room. You watch them exchange money as they go, chatting about getting drinks from the tiki bar to celebrate the tournament. Once the door shuts behind them, you turn to find Tae.
Across the room you see Jungkook in the corner, arms crossed as Dahlia talks to him, voice low and soothing. Her hand traverses up and down his biceps, and you can feel the jealousy running through your veins at the sight. Tae walks over to the controller, attempting to put back in the missing Square Button. The joystick also appears to be lodged.
“It’s not that serious, bro.” Taehyung mutters under his breath, but you know that everyone in the room hears it.
You aren’t expecting the rage that rolls off of Jungkook’s shoulders, his voice raising as he yells back at his elder.
“You never take anything seriously! How would you know?!”
Dahlia remains between the two of them, and Taehyung puts his hands up, palms facing Jungkook after he flings the broken controller onto a nearby pillow.
“You got it, bro,” he concedes, walking past you to leave the room. Jungkook is facing the wall away from you, Dahlia rubbing her hand on his back in comforting circles. You know Jungkook probably feels bad for raising his voice at Tae; he’s always tried to respect their age gap despite how often Taehyung wanted there to be no such barriers between them. You turn away from the sight of Jungkook and Dahlia, feeling nauseous when Tae offers you his hand.
You accept, allowing him to pull you out of the room and into the now-abandoned hallway.
“Hey, let me go grab a jacket and pee real quick...wait here.” Taehyung disappears down the hallway towards his room, and you turn to lean your back on the wall, reaching for your phone to peruse social media while you wait for him. Except that your phone is no longer in your back pocket. Sighing, you turn to go back into the room you just vacated, knowing that it has to be in there. As you approach the door, it opens, Dahlia quickly exiting as you turn your body to slide past her retreating one and enter the room.
The sound from the game is still playing awkward ambient music as you approach the tournament area to sift through the pillows and blankets for your misplaced phone. Jungkook is standing near the chair he sat in, trying to fix the mashed joystick on the controller he threw. You can hear his heavy breathing as you ignore him, shaking out a blanket before discarding it to the side.
“So your little boyfriend can do no wrong, huh?”
You pause as you lift a pillow, unsure if your ears heard him clearly over the sound of the TV. You decide to respond anyways, tired of the passive-aggressive behavior you witnessed today.
“My little boyfriend?” you scoff, “And what about you? Your little girlfriend was all over you tonight.”
“What girlfriend?” He has the audacity to play dumb, going so far as to quirk his head to the side in the cute way that you like, if he wasn’t so infuriating. Exasperation is the only way to describe how you’re feeling as you answer him.
“Dahlia.” A roll of your eyes helps to get your point across. Jungkook freezes, eyes meeting yours as he fixes his mouth to respond to you.
“You knew what it was when you got to this island.” The bluntness of his statement hurts, more than anything that’s happened so far between the two of you. So you do the one thing you can do so you don’t show him how hurt you are. Act like it’s nothing with your response and walk away so you can cry in peace.
“Guess you only pay attention to people you’re actively fucking.” You turn on your heel to walk out of the room, missing phone be damned.
“Please,” his sneering remark has you pausing; you really want to hear what he’s going to follow up with. “Don’t act as if I’m the bad guy, like you weren’t out here being a ho for Hyung.”
You whip your head around so fast, walking back towards him with fire under the soles of your feet.
“Is that not the point of you guys paying for this island for us? To get your fucking dicks wet whenever you fucking want?!”
It’s a blur once you both start yelling; a lot of criticism back and forth, about who was wrong first and who hurt who more. Somehow you’ve been backed up, cornered to the wall like a wounded animal, and you can tell you’re close to your breaking point.
“I bet he doesn’t even fuck you how you like; he doesn’t know your body how I do!” Jungkook’s hand slams against the wall near your head, but you don’t even flinch because you’re so riled up from his words.
“At least he fucks me!” You push his chest with 2 hands, trying to shove him away from you, and while he takes a step back, the man is made of muscle, allowing him to utilize the momentum to come closer, eyes cut as he stares down at you.
It’s now quiet, the sound of heavy breathing the only sound filling the room as silent tears begin to roll down your face. You’re so frustrated with him. Doesn’t he understand that he allowed room for Taehyung to step into the spot he left vacant? That you wanted him, waited for him to come back when he ran away and instead he had run to Dahlia. How could he accuse you of being a ho when he himself had been with practically every woman on the island twice over in the two weeks it took you to give in to Taehyung. Isn’t he the one who said you knew what it was from the jump? So why doesn’t that same courtesy to sleep with anyone on the island extend to you as well?
You say as much, voice shaky as you share your thoughts, trying to speak through the tears.
His eyes soften, taking in the tear streaks streaming down your face and he feels all of his anger dissipate. Everything you said to him he had heard already from Dahlia, who tried to rationalize it for him every day saying he couldn’t be mad at you.
“How did we get here? How do we make it right?”
You shrug your shoulders, looking away from him. You can’t speak; you know you’ll turn into a sobbing mess if you do. His voice is too soft, too sweet, too caring right now.
“Please, princess...” he rakes a hand through his hair, pushing it off his forehead as he contemplates what to do. In the end, you don’t push him away when he envelops you into his arms, pulling you down onto a pillow with him. He takes his thumb across your cheek, wiping away the salt water you’re expelling.
“Princess...”
“You hurt me.”
Your voice is so quiet, he has to lean in to hear the rest of your words. “I was so worried about you when you ran off. I wasn’t even thinking about myself, about what people were saying about me because all I could think about was you. And the longer I waited and worried, I finally pulled out my phone as a distraction.”
You sigh. “Everywhere I looked, it was that damn picture of us, and words like Slut, Whore, Ugly… every name in the book. The one person I wanted to turn to, who would understand what I was going through because it happened to him too...had run away from me and left me by myself to deal with this. Then Tae told me that Dahlia had gone to you, and you had talked to her… I didn’t know—Who was I supposed to talk to then if you didn’t need me, but I needed you?”
You turn away, but he’s quick to pull your face back towards him.
“I’m here now. Talk to me.”
“I just...I don’t know what to say now. Honestly.”
“Oh really?” he smirks, gentle, as the tension between the two of you isn’t erased yet. “You sure just had a lot to say just now.”
You hit his arm softly, fake glaring at him.
“I guess…I’m mostly hurt because even though we aren’t, like, you know? I still feel some type of way when I see you with other girls. It’s only natural and I know that, I mean, think about how long I’ve thought about this, and then it comes true? Not even in my wildest dreams...” you shake your head. “I guess I thought I meant a little more to you, that I wasn’t just someone on the island you fuck.”
“You’re not just someone I fuck.” His eyes, wide enough to drown in, are sincere as he expresses himself for the first time.
“Look, before coming here to this island, I was Jungkook of BTS. I don’t know who I am outside of BTS. I felt like girls only wanted me because I was ‘of BTS’ and not because I was Jeon Jungkook. Coming here I was able to meet people who wanted to know me, the real me, outside of the group. The women here? ARMY is truly amazing. And I’m not the only one who feels this way; you guys are exactly what we hoped for. I feel like it’s okay to be Jeon Jungkook when I’m here…when I’m with you. That the two aren’t as different as I thought. You helped me realize that.”
You shake your head no.
“You know what I mean, you’re a part of helping me realize that. The other people on the island have helped too, don’t get me wrong, but you, princess,” he tucks an unruly strand of hair behind your ear, “you are not just someone I fuck.”
You don’t know who closes the gap between your faces first, but Jungkook kisses you gently as if you are porcelain and would break. He keeps a hand on your cheek, gently caressing with his thumb across the soft skin that had not too long ago been the waterfall for your tears. You lean into the kiss, enjoying the softness of his lips as they move in tandem with yours.
His scent overpowering you, you can’t help but clutch at his shirt with both hands as you maneuver yourself to straddle his waist. He groans a melodic sound that sets you alight. It’s been so long since you felt him like this, and you can tell he feels the same. His hands palm at your ass, and you squeal into his kiss when he rocks back then stands with you in his arms. Your legs instinctually wrap around his waist, and without breaking the kiss, he walks you out of the room and down the hall towards his own.
The two of you are so enraptured by one another, you don’t notice the mischievous grins in the hallway watching your departure.
Once in Jungkook’s room, he lays you onto the bed gently. His kisses move along your face, peppering your cheeks and nose before traveling down your jawline. Your chest heaves as you catch your breath. His hands are adoring, the way they enjoy the swell of your breasts, the curve of your womanly body beneath his muscular frame. He enjoys how soft you are in comparison to him, revels in the way he can cup your ass, and once stripped of your clothes, the way he can bury himself in you.
Your back arches off the bed as he plunges deep inside of you, his arms hooking under yours and gripping your shoulders. He’s keeping you close, chests touching as he rolls his hips and languidly kisses you. His tongue, warm and wet, lazily wrestles with your own; he’s in no rush tonight. He wants to spend time reacquainting himself with your body, pulling out delicious sounds that he can swallow with your kiss, enjoy the grip of your hands in his hair as he makes love to you like he’s never done before.
You don’t try and keep quiet—knowing his brothers can probably hear you just turns you on more, and his strong strokes, driven by his powerful thighs, leave you incapable of coherent sentences—let alone full words. His forehead presses to yours, and he can tell by the way your walls quiver around his cock that you’re close.
“Look at me...” He speaks this against your lips, lips grazing lovingly as he ends the request with a peck.
Your eyelids flutter as they open, pleasure rolling through you in waves and when you take in the view, the black curls that fall damp with sweat around his face, a bunny smirk on that same face as he doesn't let up on the thrust of his hips, and a galaxy in his eyes, you let go, giving him your orgasm as you constrict around him, and he grunts, the coil snapping for him as he empties himself into you, his cum coating your insides as he pumps through it, the added wetness leaving you both sensitive to the glide of his member against your velvety walls.
He slows down before he stops moving, remaining in you as your body recovers from the trembling mess he had turned you into. And it feels so good, allowing him to reside in you, cockwarming one of your favorite parts of his body as he snuggles his face into the crook of your neck. You feel the gentle kisses along your collarbone that he leaves as you wrap your arms around him, holding him to you. He sighs, content and spent from your lovemaking as your left-hand runs through his hair, nails scratching his scalp in the way that he likes to help fall asleep. He looks up at you then, bringing his face to yours for another lingering kiss; he’s greedy tonight after weeks without a taste of you.
“I’m sorry...” His lips brush yours as he apologizes, eyes low as he gazes into your own.
“I let my jealousy get the better of me. Seeing you with Taehyung was… well honestly it was hot as fuck, but a part of me was so angry seeing him with you. And I know I have no right—”
“You have every right. Your feelings are valid, baby. But so are mine. We need to talk to each other if we want whatever this is between us to be good. I’m not saying it’s going to be great every day, we’ve talked about this before, and we still ended up in this…entanglement. But if we can respect each other enough to talk it out...And not sleep with each other’s roommates when we’re mad at each other...”
He kisses you softly, a lingering touch that has you shivering with need again.
“I didn’t sleep with Dahlia. But I promise, next time, I’ll come to you first. I wanted you, you know? When I heard the golf cart approach, I hoped it was you. My mind was just all over the place—”
“I’m sorry too, you know?” You hide your face in his firm chest, hating the feeling when apologizing but knowing it’s necessary. “I was mean to you when you caught me and Tae, and then I assumed that you and Dahlia…God,” you pause, breathing him in to ease the discomfort. “I was such a bitch to her.”
Jungkook kisses your hair, smoothing it down as he chuckles lightly.
“My baby is such a jealous little monster. I love it.”
You pinch his side, making him laugh as he squirms in your embrace, but it helps you build the courage to speak the last thing on your mind.
“I love you. I know that it’s not the same for you as it is for me, I’ve loved you as your fan for a while now, so I have no fears in saying it to you now, and I don’t expect you to say it back. I just want you to know. I love you, Jeon Jungkook. Not of BTS. Though he’s pretty great too.”
You fall asleep like that, wrapped up in one another, and in the morning you find your phone slipped under the door to Jungkook’s bedroom. An unread text from Taehyung lets you know he had your phone the whole time, and that he stole it so you and Jungkook would talk. He even included a winking emoji saying if you were mad about it, you could beat him up, but he didn’t think you’d have the energy for it today.
He wasn’t wrong.
