Some ideas on preparing to come out, in case you get kicked out.
To be safe & prepare for a common outcome & relative worst case scenario (which we’re going to being kicked out of the house, your folks withdrawing all support.)
Make sure you have as much your essential stuff as possible. Stuff such as:
• An escape path from where you’re coming out (hopefully, your people won’t be violent, but in case they are, you definitely don’t want to be on the 2nd floor with them obstructing the stairs to get out, or otherwise far from the exit.) • any money (you’ll want to stash away at least $100, which might last a day, because if this lasts for a while $300 is more likely needed & more will be too, so find someone who will share or get a job, or what have you, but basically store as much as possible, and have it on you when you come out. You definitely would need friends who will in case you get outed, and getting your stuff gets thrown out. • places to go for shelter (preferably think of some places like for the homeless, because while friends or other family are more comfortable they’re not a guarantee. However, be warned that if go to a homeless shelter, theft is likely to happen.) • uniforms, work, school, whatever they are for, have at least one copy of every uniform you need. • Hygiene products • 1 or 2 outfits (perhaps sleepwear, casual wear). • Basic ass school supplies, text books (keep some or all of these in your school locker, if possible). • A couple bottles of water. Because you can do intermittent fasting, like that’s literally a diet, (preferably, you’d have doctor supervision or advice, but you work with what you got. If have health problems like diabetes, woo boy! that’s a doozie, but try to keep doctor’s considerations adhered to), but dehydration escapes no one, especially if you’re working to find shelter & stuff. Therefore, if you don’t have tap water nearby, costs & availability can vary, and what kind of transit you have will depend on money & people you can ask for help from. Therefore pack water, because as Haymitch says “water is your best friend.”! • and if you’re going to pack food, think like trail mix & jerky (I’m allergic to nuts, and some people are vegetarian, so I mentioned both. God help you if you’re both, or heck, even vegan). • Bonus: I’d also include a job interview outfit, Just to be on the safe side) Maybe: learn some self defense techniques on YouTube or something, if possible. Even if it’s just one, it’s hopefully something you’ll have at your deposal. Definitely needed if you know your folks can fight/physically attack/get a hold of weapons. Also if you can’t find shelter, and you’re in a relatively threatening area, it could help. (We should look up some techniques, although there’s another one, flee! run like a bullet! “Run Katniss! Run!”)
When you come out, try to have your essentials with you, like on your person, or at your escape path’s destination, in case you’re not allowed to get your stuff. If you have a car perhaps put the clothing items in a bag inside your trunk. You might be on borrowed time though with your car, if you don’t own it outright, or don’t have the insurance plan for it, but it might make a good shelter for a while. Just make sure you can take your essentials out in like less than 10 seconds, because extra stress can make shit get slower, especially if you’re dealing with impatient people.
I have a feeling this could be overwhelming, but safety nets take work to form & maintain. Like I don’t want to deny your gender, but still, you need to be safe.
Also when/if you’re fighting to survive, when you get the chance let yourself grieve. You may not get another chance for a while, and harboring that pain without some sort of healthy release will kill you. Like it’s taxing, and you’re basically broke. If you have a chance for therapy or counseling, take it, being disowned by people you love, is hell. But then again, if you have to keep yourself hidden and pressed down it can be like building yourself into a coffin & being a walking corpse. Just be prepared. Love yourself. Because regardless of whether they’re benign or malicious everyone & everything will eventually betray you, the most obvious example being your body, but you have you for life, love yourself. Please. Love you. Love them.
I wish for peace & love to be with you. – Eve
