Estradiol Patches: Week 1
As of one week ago I made the switch from taking estrogen via pills to taking estrogen via patches. I have been on HRT for over 3 years, and pills have been the only method I've used up until now. I decided to switch to patches after learning that estradiol is converted to estrone when metabolized in the liver, and that many people report better results via patches or injection where estradiol is preserved. I have been wanting better results from HRT for a while now as my breast development is not where I want it to be. After discussing with my endocrinologist we came to the decision that patches may be a better option for me. I still take spironolactone and progesterone pills, but my estrogen is purely absorbed through the skin. The patches are basically little waterproof stickers; I have two on my body at a time that I change 2 times per week. Here, I will detail the changes I have noticed: Nipple sensitivity is present but has changed. When I noticed sensitivity in the past, it was a tenderness in the "buds" under my areola. Now tenderness is contained on the nipple tips and is slightly more unpleasant. Breast buds are slightly itchy. No noticeable growth. Nausea has been a big nuisance since I started. It was most noticeable on days 2-3 and has since subsided but is still present. My appetite is sometimes hindered by this as there are time where I will not be able to eat when I want to. Noticeable irritability. Usually when I have anger it is accompanied by crying, but so far I have yet to cry. Libido has been remarkably low. In the past, HRT has actually increased my sex drive. This past week I have found myself having no interest in masturbation or pornography. Sex with my partner has been less frequent but is very much enjoyable. One acne breakout noticed. Sweat and body odor seem to be less of a problem. My hair seems less greasy. That is all that comes to mind at the moment! I hope to continue updating just to keep track and keep those who may consider patches informed as there's not much info about people's experiences online!
A little late but I applied my first femboy sticker yesterday!!! It's so tiny!
You can go swimming, shower, and bathe with the patch but I discovered something new.
Heat causes the patch to release more estrogen!
Be sure your heating pad isn’t directly on your patch and don’t stay in the tub too long grrls!
Finally starting HRT after endless referrals, waiting, blood tests, and hoops to jump through. The estrogen patch is so tiny! You grrls have this on LOCK!
When I was on a testosterone patch it was four times the size and full of alcohol to make the skin more permeable. You could only put it on the lower back or lower abdomen. It left massive welts on me and it wasn’t even very affective.
