Different aerial parts of this plant are edible and traditionally used as raw or cooked food in some countries, especially in some dishes in Mediterranean and neighboring areas. In addition, non-stinging nettle is considered a base component of some well-known vegetarian dishes and salads. L. album, when added to food supplements, can prevent menstrual, musculoskeletal disorders and ameliorate fat metabolism. It is worth mentioning a phytochemical study of the aqueous extract of the flowering tops of L. album, a component herb in a commercial liver health herbal formula, that led to the identification of the antiviral activity of some iridoids.
