I once again couldn't figure out what to do with myself because what I felt like doing and what my brain felt like letting me do were in disagreement, so I made a list of all the games I was considering playing. Making myself write out how much I felt like I should be playing them vs how much I actually wanted to play them at the time was surprisingly helpful.
I ranked them on a scale from 🐙 to 🐌. I had started with smilies, but they weren't easy enough to tell apart at a glance so I switched to aquatic/amphibious critters for some reason. And yes, shrimp tempura is a sea creature now.
One of the biggest discrepancies was that FE3H was pretty high for should but at the absolute bottom for want, and it made me realize I probably have the strongest negative feelings toward it out of any Switch game at the moment. Eufloria HD was worse but I've mostly forgotten it by now, and BotW annoyed me much more but was also a while ago, and the good stuff in that is genuinely great.
I gave FE3H its second chance just in case I was having a weird day before and was unfair to it. Within 15 minutes of running around the monastery/school I had to stop because of motion sickness, which nothing has done to me since Super Hexagon. Or really it's less motion sickness and more neurological weirdness, but I didn't want to stick around and find out what flavor because with Super Hexagon it was seizures (which is extra sad because Super Hexagon is a great game (hi again Terry Cavanagh)).
So yeah, FE3H is now permanently off the list, which is surprisingly relieving, and I've had a good reminder that there really is no "should" (e.g. I "should" finish the games I'm in the middle of and was enjoying, I "shouldn't" play more XC2 or start something new yet), just various reasons I do or don't feel like playing something at any given time that might be in conflict with each other, and no one is judging me for it but me.
Also it'll be really funny if FEW3H turns out to be one of my favorite games that comes out this year (whether or not I actually play it this year), just like BotW was one of my biggest disappointments ever but I thought AoC was great.
