(tag as eurol) I hate my head. I have intrusive thoughts all the time and they're mainly about my dad. I'm always worried that at some point I wanted to give in to the intrusive thoughts and just don't remember. I can never remember these instances clearly so I can never resolve it and I just can't move on with my life not knowing whether or not I'm fucked up and stuff. I'm tired of this stuff buzzing around my head all the time and never resolving it. I dunno what to do. How do I resolve it?
Hey there, eurol! Intrusivethoughts are really hard to deal with. They can control your everyday life. Thereare ways to deal with these thoughts and to make them go away altogether. I’llgive you what advice I have to make things easier for you to deal with.
One thing that may help you dealwith intrusive thoughts is find distractions that work for you. Distractionscan help you forget and push away the thoughts that are bothering you. Somedistractions that help me are playing video games and helping out on the blog.A good idea, I think, is to write down a list of distractions and refer to itwhen you are not feeling well.
It may help to think of what istriggering these thoughts. Sometimes there is something in particular thatcould be causing these thoughts. If you can figure out what is making you feelthis way maybe you could stop the act or stop what is triggering you fromhappening at all. If you can’t completely remove the problem then try to use acoping mechanism to get through it. Soon it wont affect you as badly and youwill be able to live normally.
Grounding techniques may help youwhen it comes to coping with these thoughts. Grounding is a term for attachingyourself to your body and reality, the world around you. When you’re feeling‘spacey’, overly anxious, paranoid, afraid, having trouble differentiatingreality and your mind, are dissociating, feeling an overwhelming emotion orjust want to get in touch. I will name a few grounding techniques for you. Saya coping statement. ‘I can handle this.’ Say positive statements aboutyourself. ‘You are a good person going through a hard time. You’ll get throughthis.’ Tell yourself a grounding, reassuring sentence such as ‘My name is ____I am ____ years old, I live at ____, I currently am ____. I am here and I amsafe. I can handle this, I am safe.
Another option for you is to seekprofessional help. A therapist couldwork wonders for you. I have been to a few therapists in my lifetime and theyhave all helped me a lot. They are there so you can vent and talk about what isbothering you. They are also there to give you advice on your problems. You canbe referred to a therapist by you family doctor.
I know that you can get throughthis! Remember that we have a live chat service that is available to everyone. You can send in a request or see if an admin has posted that they are online. Ifyou feel like you are in immediate danger please go to the hospital. I want youto be safe.
