Bit of another political rant but the way that things are going right now I'm scared to just leave my house to go to class or the store.
Like guys. No person should have to be scared to go to class. No kid should have to fear for if their parents or siblings are going to come home, nobody should be scared to speak another language. Nobody should be scared just to introduce themself because of their name.
And it’s not just that. I’ve been yelled at on the way to the bus stop, name called, told to go back to my own country and I’m able to pass as white. My best guess at the reason for that? I was wearing a shirt that had Spanish words on it. Poderosa (Powerful) Heck, I’ve had interactions just because someone was looking over at my phone and saw Spanish music playing.
I’m the lucky one. And I acknowledge that. I visually pass as white and straight, I don’t have an accent when speaking English. I’m able to manage and hide my disabilities
But for others? Those who have darker skin or more curly hair, those who have an accent? That’s an immediate target on their back. AND NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT!
So yeah. Speak up and use your voice because that’s one thing they can try to ignore but however much they don’t listen we get all the louder.
Yell “LA MIGRA” or “ICE” Throw them off, but most importantly keep yourself safe in the process. Protect others, but if that’s a dangerous situation for you, get out and help from afar. Keep your neighbors, friends and family aware of where you’re going and when you should be back, and do the same for them

So @janec23 has been reading my skyrim fanfic and every comment she leaves she adds a favorite line. And honestly I love that so much!! I'm going to start doing it when I leave comments!
It's also inspired me to look at my writing and pick out my own favorite lines, because i spend so much time criticizing my writing and not enough time celebrating what I actually like.
