tagged by @purplesigebert for Four Fictional Crushes but I'm old so I'm just going to go with Four (Seven) Compelling Characters bc I'm at the age where it is creepy for me to crush on younger (and everyone is) characters. Anyway, under the cut for more. I'll tag @carry-the-sky and @ninzied in case you want to fawn over people with me as it's kind of fun.

I'm counting these as 1 character bc they are an OT3 and I will not separate them (Nathan, Annalise, and Gabriel, from The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself). I fell in love with this show and the small things they did to show character and connection in a single season. It wasn't perfect but man was there room to grow, but it sadly will never happen.

Then like...i was talking about how when X-Men first came out back in the day and the crush on Wolverine was strong but I was never interested in Hugh Jackman outside that role. I only found him attractive as Wolverine, because he just...embodied the character.

Here is current version of that, Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack From Furiosa. Just such a character.

Frank Castle, The Punisher. Ok i will allow myself one moment of thirst. The abs. The BLOOD.

Lastly, you'd expect Klaus here, but sometimes that fucker looks so goofy I cannot handle it. Truly a chameleon. So instead I'll go with Niska from Humans. I just love her face? And her character was Not Easy To Like

I think I've realized why so many characters tend to be white. White can represent a blank slate a blank canvas, so to say it's easier to start painting on a canvas that isn't painted than one that is already painted. It's extremely difficult to master some people to the point that you can make a character of color.

If you make a character of color without mastering how to properly make a character, you can get an uncompelling character, tho it doesn't mean that you can't write an uncompelling white character as well ,I think this is why there are so many good compelling white characters In media and not so many character of color everyone had to start somewhere.

Why anyone would suggest Louie is boring is beyond me, yet I found someone like that recently. When I came to after blacking out from the strangeness of that notion, this 35-and-a-half minute monster of a video manifested in my projects folder. What a coincidence!

I mean. You don't have to LIKE Louie. (I love Louie and won't pretend I don't, but I understand why some people want to gnaw him.) But... uninteresting?? When there are so many little details that can spark intrigue into his character???

Man. Some people are wild.

Sense 8

I loved this show. It has themes of love and pride and family and overcoming persecution together. It’s a beautiful show.  It’s a bit amonormative & allonormative in the end if that’s a problem for you and has a bunch of sex scenes but it’s sooooooooo gay; it’s fantastic.  gay score: SO GAY. All about queer liberation thematically and literally with beautiful heartfelt connections and going to pride together twice. Bonding and solidarity and found family and persecution. A trans woman with her wlw partner and their love, a closeted gay man and his boyfriend and their live in beard, and their various bisexual asses, and even the straight ones are beautiful.

Now, serious conversation guys

I know PB is investing hard on books with a more adult approach, with fast romance and spicy scenes, but honestly they can’t hold a candle to books with a bit of slow burn. And hear me out, the problem is not exactly being a mature book or not. It’s about how shallow the characters and their bonds are.

YES, I AM TALKING ABOUT WITNESS. And I fear The Nanny series will go down the same way. Just played two chapters to get my diamonds.

Most of you will remember A Courtesan of Rome. Even though it was indeed a Mature book, the relationship didn’t opt for the fast and shallow route. It took us I don’t even remember how many now, but it was more than we wanted A LOT to get to the good parts with Marc Antony.

It took us A LOT to get something with our LI (mine if Tyril, of course. I’m so predictable) in Blades (significatively less than ACOR, because Blades has less chapters, thankfully it will get more books) and it’s taking A LOT for us to even kiss Edward.

And you won’t hear me complaining. Because even though I’d love to get soon to the good parts with Edward (and I think it’s the same for those romancing Charlie), I’m enjoying very much not only his interactions with MC, but the rest of the book as well. While I’m not romancing Charlie right now (money issues), I enjoy her scenes with MC. I so love Ginny (my precious girl), I love Jonas (he reminds me of Antony. Screw that, HE IS ANTONY, with a different personality of course), I love Henry, I love Maggie, I love Axton and Adelia, I love the plot!!!

Gosh, I so love the mystery surrounding the artifacts, the mystery surrounding Edward and the Admiral’s relationship, the mystery surround Edward’s past.

So yeah, I kinda want to kiss Edward and enjoy the good parts, but more than that I want to enjoy a good story, with believable characters and compelling narrative. And Distant Shores is giving me exactly that. So PB, instead of investing more on “erotic” books, maybe you could invest more in books with a good storyline and give us more descriptive steamy scenes, because no matter how descriptive a smut may be, I AM NOT spending my money on it if it has a shabby storyline.
