They both do, but Nick moreso than Clovis.  Nick does it because he can, and Clovis does it as retaliation.  And then Nick does it to get back at Clovis.  It’s a never-ending circle :v

Mmmm I want to say Nick, but at the same time, I don’t think either of them would.  They’d both probably squint and be like “We’re related………..”

who has to bust or bail the other out of jail

Clovis, definitely Clovis.  Though that’s not to say Nick wouldn’t have to do it a few times :vc

who gives the other advice/comfort about dating issues

Nick!  Who knows if he’s actually got experience, but Clovis sure as hell doesn’t :’)

who shamelessly cheats at games by reaching over to cover the other’s eyes

Both of them.  They then proceed to fight over it, which quickly turns into “No it’s alright you can have it” “Nah nah you can have it!!”

It’s about 50/50 in both cases.  So far, Nick is winning in both.

“Hypocrites.”

Benji reclined on the plush leather seats the towncar nextto his uncle who muttered something under his breath as he loosened the tiearound his neck.

“Thank god that’s over,” Ivan sighed, running a hand throughhis hair as the driver pulled out of the parking garage. “Well I hope one of ushad something approaching a good time tonight.”

For his reluctance to come, Benji had managed to pick aparta group of some of the younger children of the various chairpeople and CEOsattending the charity gala at the swanky Lumiose hotel. For all his unclesmiled and joked with the others in attendance, Benji could feel his bookish unclelooking for any excuse to leave as soon as possible.

“You were the one who made us come,” Benji pointed out,looking out the window at the snowy streets lined with holiday shoppers andbrightly lit displays.

“That’s because it’s our duty,” Ivan sighed, pinching thebridge of his nose. “On occasion we have to show up and gladhand our businessassociates no matter how rat-faced they may be.”

“Ratfaced?” Benji said, raising an eyebrow. The people thereseemed to be perfectly pleasant if a little…frilly than the kinds of people hewas used to being with.

“Every time they give a nickel to charity they throw a partyworth ten times the amount they donated,” Ivan groused. “All for taxwrite-offs; all for show. Filthy hypocrites…every last one of them.”

“They got to spend all that dough somehow,” Benji snickeredas he could feel another one of his uncle’s lengthy rants coming on.

“God forbid they use it responsibly,” Ivan snorted. “Godforbid they use it for anything other than putting on a show for the press…youhave to promise me you’ll never indulge in parties like that when you take overafter I’m gone or you’ll not get a cent.”

“Ooookay,” Benji sighed. As much as his uncle was huffingand hawing about the party, Benji had found himself enjoying thecompany…especially as puberty had whacked him and all his friends likesledgehammers

“People of our station should be responsible for more thanincreasing our own gain,” Ivan grumbled bitterly. “We have more…importantthings to worry about than giving a pittance to some animal shelter in thecity.”

“You mean the war in Kanto?” Benji asked as Ivan laughed.

“War in Kanto is nothing,” Ivan said, glancing across thecar at his nephew. “You remember that. Whatever…squabbles between people ofthis world, don’t you become part of them. They’re all wastes of time;distractions even.”

“Distractions from what?’ Benji asked.

“You’ll see in time,” Ivan said. “You’ll understand whatwe’re up against…and why we cannot afford to be so frivolous.”

Age 16

“You’re going to do great, Jeong.” The boy’s father had crouched low next to his son, hands kneading gently at his shoulders as a gesture of encouragement. “You’ll do great” 

It was Castelia’s regional martial arts tournament, and he’d been nervous. He was almost sure that he couldn’t do it. As he’d stepped out onto the battle mat for his next round, the crowd cheered loudly. Expectations of him were mounting; he needed to do a good job.

“Jeong!!” The boy turned back toward the entrance he’d entered the mat from, and there, his father had been giving him a large thumbs up. He....he could do this. He had his dad’s support. He could do anythi--

No.

As Jeong had returned his gaze to the center of the ring, his opponent was there, a hulking, black penguin loomed over him. Its giant form cast a long and daunting shadow over him, practically shrinking the boy in the process. H-He couldn’t do this. He couldn’t face this monstrosity....W-Wait!

Dad! He....he could do it if he had his dad!

The boy cast a look once more at the entrance, but instead of his dad’s grin, he was met with a man with blood and water seeping from what used to be his father’s eyes and mouth, beginning to fill the stadium, and fast. He...needed to leave. He needed to run, to get out of here!!

The boy backed away from the hellish visage of his former father, but he had not made it far before his back met something. It was the penguin again. Jeong let out a small, distressed squeak as he’d backed away from it as well, but he was caught, the thing that used to be his father holding tightly to the little boy’s arms so he wouldn’t escape. The water was up to his knees now. It wasn’t getting any slower. He needed to get out of here!! Jeong thrashed in his captor’s grip, squirming to no avail. “Mommy! Help!” He tried to scream, but no sound came out. Once again, and once again, no sound.

The stadium was growing dark, and as the boy continued to attempt screaming, he heard his father’s voice behind him.

“Now you can’t abandon me,”

As if on cue, the penguin raised a wing....

“AAH--!!”

Jeong shot bolt upright in his bed, breathing hard and staring around the room in a panic. He--He was dreaming?

He was dreaming.

The boy allowed himself to lay back down, curling in on himself and letting out a small sob. Then another. And another until he’d descended into tears.

Too bad it was just a dream.

Peaceful.

There was a certain peace to the darkness. It was like he was floating midair, yet lying comfortably in a bed. The pressure surrounding him was like a blanket. It was like sleep. Nice, restful sleep. He’d been so afraid of this darkness before...but why? He’d felt so comfortable....so peaceful...

But there had been no peace that lasted forever. The comfortable pressure around him began to press down, latchin on to his being and yanking him upwards and out of the darkness. It felt like he’d been doused with a bucket of ice water.

“....ien? Are you...are you awake...?

Suddenly, light. Suddenly, a woman. He blinked at her several times, silently waiting for her to speak again.

“Lucien..?” She asked again. What was a Lucien? Whas that him? Was it something else? He tilted his head at her as the woman slumped over and sighed slightly.

“Of course, not...I thought I...no. No, this is...just as good.” She took his hands gently and began running thumbs over his knuckles, eyes cast down at her stomach. “You look just like him...” She murmured to herself. He wondered what she was saying. “What...were we going to name you...? Ahhh, I remember.”

He stared at her, confused as she’d looked up at him with a smile.

“Mordecai.”
