An avenue of Quercus ilex (holm oak, holly oak, evergreen oak) an evergreen, broadleaf tree which is native to the Mediterranean region. It was introduced to Britain in the late 1500s and will develop into a large tree. The upper surface of the leaves are glossy green contrasting with the whitish lower surface, the young foliage and yellow catkins.
