Ok. I was expecting a much longer book. It was fast ... too fast that I am pretty sure I jumped a few pages and went straight to the end. Here's the summary:
Hudson Blake
Tattooed. Hot. My best friend's brother. Off-limits, except for that one night.
That One Night
Cannot be spoken of. Cannot be thought of. Cannot allow myself to daydream.
Daydream
That I’m going to become someone. That he can see me as someone.
Someone
To love. To forget. To believe. To taste.
To make me forget my everlasting sin once and for all. (less)
This dual POV story will glimpse a past full of excitement, decisions, bad decisions, guilt, and other feelings. And the present. Duh. Oh, let me not forget: cute. Cute would be the perfect word to describe this book.
A three year gap between Riley and Hudson didn't do much from keeping these two from falling innocently for each other throughout the years. Their love grew instead of disappearing after a casualty four years ago.
Riley is blaming herself for being selfish and jealous, and Hudson is blaming himself for desiring someone and, yes, being selfish.
His good-self is doing everything he can to save the life of someone he feels the need to protect, and that will lead him back to Riley. Riley, well, she's writing an article on dirty fights for money, and her true love is there fighting to get some [money].
The plot, where the fight is concerned, gave a twist that left me hanging... but it worked out. And a promise of a future sits at the end of the last page.
If you are a non-nonsense you will want to decapitate Riley's character for being either too naïve or clueless about "romance"/sex, and other aspects of a relationship. And honestly, Hudson is sweet, but he's all over the place until you see him settling.
I will leave you to the snapshots : prologue, chapter 1 from part 1, chapter 5, from part 2. Yes, two parts for this book. (get me now for saying I was expecting a longer book!?)
And yes, don't even state the obvious that I started reading this book and finished it on the same day, 1 1/2 hours later. Just don't. Ha-ha!
Thank you for reading this review and see you all on the next book.
