I posted this in February. I'm posting it again. As an educator I would die for any of my students. I went through two full lockdowns with them this year due to the threat of gun violence. We've had half a dozen drills. I've coached each of my classes on what to do if our classroom is threatened. I've comforted crying students who fear this will become a reality for them. Yesterday a student showed me s video he made in class about lockdown procedure. We spend time that could be used learning about the universe, instead learning how to avoid getting shot at school. Lawmakers spend time talking about whether or not I should get my own gun, not whether I should get my own classroom, or my students should get their own beds and meals.
