New Year New You

Everyone needs a fresh shift of perspective at different points & that is why a new year can really offer opportunity for us to focus in from a more hopeful, reignited, new goal-oriented place. And how crazy is it, that everything is all about timing-that you can look back and see how differently you viewed something just months ago? Or that something that seemed so daunting then is now within your reach? Or even being able to see that your sense of self has strengthened and you would never "settle" for things i.e. guys or friends who let you down, or a job that diminishes your spirit like you did just last year...

I encourage you to take some time to think of what you'd like to work towards for YOU this year and also take some time to see how far you've come. It's not about how much of a crazy salary you made, how many boys liked you, but instead how you learned to stand up for yourself or be kinder to you(in all the many realms-learning to say no when you are overextended, or say yes to see what the universe can offer you out of your comfort zone. Or taking the time to workout ad begin a happier relationship with your body-just a few of many areas)

Here's to a stellar year & a stellar you. This life is a journey, not a marathon.:)

Style A' Blaze

This everyday darling embodies all of the qualities we appreciate in a girl crush. Blaze is one of my dear friends I cant get enough of! She's hilarious, savvy, and truly authentic to who she is-I adore her & wanted to let her inspire us with some fun fashion tips. I'm sure you've had the chance to enjoy her raspy kick-butt voice in hundreds of national commercials, right now currently the voice of Swiffer! While running to many auditions and bookings in NYC, she always manages to look ridiculously put together in that "effortlessly chic" way. Her outfits are standout and a wonderful reminder to ladies that dressing for the day should be fun for us all:)

Describe your personal style. 

Bipolar. I'm a city girl(born & raised in Manhattan) but love the country.I think the dichotomy also comes out in my personal style. I have always leaned towards tailored clothing & old fashioned silhouettes but like to work-in eccentric pieces-like my parents' old hippie clothes, vintage finds, & souvenirs from exotic locales.

Who are your favorite designers? 

Malene Birger, Vince, Rebecca Taylor, Tibi, Nanette Lepore, Ralph Lauren. Shoes: Pedro Garcia, Pura Lopez.

What are your favorite places to shop?

TJMaxx, Loehmmanns, Comptor de Cotoniers, Club Monaco, All Saints, Lands End Canvas, the wholesale jewelry district(Broadway between 28-39th St)

Who are your style icons?

Victoria Beckham & Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

Are there any keys pieces you find yourself wearing constantly?

A very simple gold cuff bracelet that I bought at the New Paltz Crafts Fair.

What was your most recent purchase?

A small black Salvatore Ferragamo satchel bag

Smart shopping advice?

Mix & match low-end with high-end

Spend the most on outerwear, accessories, & things that are black. Black matches everything.

Dont be afraid to make bold choices. Then own them.

Best thing about your job?

I have appointments all over the city, which forces me to walk 1-4 miles a day. So I get great exercise & a lot of fresh air(if you can call NYC air fresh:) ) Also, flexible hours allows time to lunch with friends, walk my dogs, & shop. Wait...maybe that's a bad thing!

What beauty products do uyou recommend?

Cheap oil-based drugstore lotions(Eucerin or Nivea Soft)
