I’m finally done with my WIP of Kirby fighting against the Baroness and her castle. I’m really proud of how all of this turned out. To put it in context, Kirby wandered into Sugarland and runs afoul with Baroness Von Bon Bon and her castle, Whippet Creampup, and discovers that his two best friends, Cuphead and Mugman are transformed into candy. And it looks like Kirby is not going down without a fight.

“Hey, Hawkeye!”

Riza looks up from her book, shading her eyes from the sun with her hand. Her band mate Jean Havoc stands on the edge of the yacht’s aft deck in his bright red swim shorts, waving her down. 

“What?” she calls back, squinting at him.

“Roy’s dropping the anchor so we can swim. Come on!”

Riza frowns and carefully marks her place in the library book, tucking it into the canvas bag she got for free when she completed this year’s ridiculously easy “summer reading” program. Read five books this summer for a free gift from the local library. Please. She’d read a book every day if she could. 

She stands and folds up her beach towel then makes her way down the ladder to the lower deck where her friends are gathering by the prow.
