Happy National Handwriting day :) 🖤 In my humble opinion, you can't beat a good handwritten list. And I can't learn any new skill without making handwritten notes. 💜 Pictured here is my weapon of choice. The humble biro. I use pilot biros as they are vegan, I used to use bic but was disgusted to find that they test on animals. Since swapping to pilot I've found they are superb quality, and feel really nice yo write and draw with 💚 Did you know if you save your empty biros you can take them to most big supermarkets to be recycled? I keep a box in my art room and when it's full off we go to le supermarche 🖤 I've also invested in some refillable calligraphy pens. Greetings Earthlings. I've had quite a few new followers recently so I thought I'd do a wee post reintroducing myself. 🖤 I'm Becky, the face behind Orange Fruitcake Arts and crafts. I originally started using OrangeFruitcake as a pseudonym years ago when I first started posting my work online, I didn't have the confidence to use my own name. Though I do now sign works with my real name, I still use OrangeFruitcake as my shop name as a homage to how far I've come. The name stems from my natural ginger (orange) locks, and the fact I've always been a bit of a fruitcake (may contain nuts) 💜 My work reflects my love of nature, sci-fi and fantasy. 💚 You can find my work online on Etsy and Redbubble (links in Bio) or in the flesh @themessyhare gallery and coffee shop in Burton, where I've recently started working. OR @saltsupstairs in Swadlincote and the Honeypot tea room at Rosliston. 🖤 I'm striving to be as eco-friendly as possible in my work and home life. All my packaging is plastic free, I protect my cards and art prints in clear wallets made from corn starch which are fully compostable. And the envelopes and backboards I use are made from 100% recycled paper. I don't use any plastic coatings on my greetings cards or business cards making them suitable for home recycling or composting, though I do encourage framing my Art cards. ♻️ I know some good eco craft suppliers so if anyone would like some links send me a message and I'll be happy to talk you through some options which could work for your craft projects. 👾 Thanks to everyone for your support so far, every follow, like, and comment makes a difference to small businesses. I've also worked on a commission for bikini bottoms recently. Here's a shot of my cutting table during the pattern-testing phase when I was testing out the design with some scrap fabric. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've always wanted to have a bash at some swimwear (always thought it's a natural progression for spandex-based humans like me) but I'd never gotten around to it so I really enjoyed this and getting to play around with some new pattern-making. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Different projects from the usual are always a good reminder that there's aaalways still a lot to learn about your craft - for example I never knew that swimwear elastic was different from normal elastic!
