I never even talk on tumblr. But a paper on suffrage brought me to this whole thing on feminism and anti-feminism and I just want to know why everyone is so fucking crazy.
Firstly, let’s get some definitions straight. A feminist as defined by the dictionary as person who believes in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. If you believe in those things, you are a feminist. You cannot change that. Sorry.
I am a feminist. However, I have a boyfriend. I want to marry him, he treats me like a princess and I like when he buys me shit. I’m not a man hater, and I appreciate his bumbling gestures of chivalry.
This does not mean that it’s okay for only 3 out of 100 rapes to get convictions in America. Marital rape was only considered a thing until 1960, and wasn’t completely illegal in the United States until 2005. 2005?!?! People try all this bullshit that says women only get played less because they take less paying jobs or that usually male jobs are harder. (If you’re thinking manual labor, usually those are considered blue collar work anyway) I call shenanigans. Employers are more likely to hire men for those “harder jobs” in the first place. If I went into an office and my boyfriend went into the same office, with the same skill set, and the same education, he is going to get hired over me. Because with him, they don’t have to worry about maternity leave, or my more expensive heath care, or if I’ll file a sexual harassment case if something makes me uncomfortable. If you think Women are equal in the workforce you’re delusional.
Add to that to the fact that there are barely any female CEOs of fortune 500 companies and few female politicians (all of which some how have to include their sex in their platform in an election.)
Finally, I don’t know why everyone seems to forget the feminism is an international thing? It’s not like ‘Oh hey, I can vote in America, who cares about literally any other country’. Women are still get stoned to death, married when there 10, and thrown on funeral pyres. Jesus. What’s wrong with you people? What equality and lack of a need for feminism are you seeing?
With all that being said, I don’t want or need sympathy. I know that I’m resourceful and cunning and I can make shit happen for myself with our without the world on my side. But pretending there isn’t a problem, or better yet trying to distract from real issues by calling out people who are clearly man haters and crazy is beyond me. I bet you won’t see any female anti-feminist trying to dissect and refute a real article on feminism, or better yet disagree with the people who got their right to vote. Got a problem with Susan B Anthony? I didn’t think so. You all are content to argue on tumblr about whether or not getting checked out by a guy is rape.
Look I wear cute stuff, and I like getting checked out sometimes because it makes me feel pretty and desirable. But does that mean you can squeeze my boobs, or slap my ass, and then call me a slut, or ugly, or whatever when I turn you down? No. And it’s not because that particular guy is an asshole. It’s because our culture allows this type of shit, and considers it normal.
Besides, most of you are white, and couldn’t even deal with real discrimination anyway, Unlike my black ass.
