i always find army recruitment adverts quite strange because most of them are nothing to with joining the army. for example, we have one on in the uk at the moment where the woman says 'what's in it for me' and the answer is playing football, which she loves. you know you can play football right. like you don't have to join the army to play football.
I want to see Lucien like this in those next books >:)
Hot
danganronpa
Demigod AU!
When Joshua Faraday first meets Alejandro Vasquez, he doesn’t even care that he’s meeting a Greek demi god for the first time. Nor does he care enough to worry that Robicheaux is annoyed with him.
Because Alejandro Vasquez is hot.
“Aphrodite.” A kid, no older than him, with deep brown skin and the beginnings of a poorly sculpted beard says next to him.
“Huh?” Josh eloquently asks turning to face the other boy. Or, not boy, he looks definitely older than Josh, and Josh doesn’t like being called a kid (even though Robicheaux claims he still is).
“Vasquez. Son of Aphrodite. Don’t mind him though he doesn’t mean to use his mother’s gifts.” The other demigod smiles wryly. “Sam Chisolm.” He offers his hand and Josh shrugs and takes it.
“Josh Faraday. Mercury.” Sam didn’t offer his lineage, but then wasn’t that why Robicheaux was here?
“That’s Hermes right?” A boy, and this time it definitely is a boy, probably no older than 13, asks.
Josh scowls and is about to reprimand the kid but the girl about his age, Emma? He thinks that’s what she said to Robicheaux scowls and cuffs the boy on the back of his head. “Mr. Horne explained it to you already Teddy, it’s not the same thing.” Teddy practically pouts and it takes all of Joshua’s non-existant self control to not laugh.
“Emma Cullen, Nemesis.” Josh lets out a low whistle at that.
“Athena.” Sam responds to Josh’s unasked question and he beams at the other kid. He does love it when his curiosity is sated.
“Sam, you’ve met Goodnight.” The Asian boy whose been standing closer to Robicheaux says as he walks over, the cajun demigod just a half step behind, the easiest smile on his face that Josh has ever seen.
“Emma, Teddy, Goodnight-“
“Minerva.” The kid who is still standing close to the praetor answers.
Josh scowls before Vasquez steps closer to him. “Mercury huh?” Josh has to force himself not to gulp before he nods. As he shakes his head to clear his thoughts and now that he sees it he notices the extra polish that wipes away when he realises the glimmer is there.
He’s still hot as fuck. But it’s more of an earthly hot now. Vasquez’s scruff is carefully cultivated unlike Sam’s but he’s still got some pock marks from puberty. And Josh can’t tell if the glimmer is just that strong, but he finds himself not caring.
“Faraday.” Robicheaux’s angry southern drawl is out, which means Josh should really clue back in. He tries to resist rolling his eyes, but fails if Vasquez’s quiet chuckle is anything to go by.
“What?” He can tell his praetor is unimpressed with his display, but he doesn’t want to be here, he was forced here by some stupid quest and who-
“Billy Rocks. Hecate.” The asian kid- Billy, supplies and Robicheaux rolls his eyes and huffs mightily at Josh’s blank stare.
“...Who?” Because seriously, while he gets they’re different personalities why do the gods have to have different names for different versions of themselves.
Well, except for Apollo, but he’s... Apollo and seems like the type to not want people to confuse him.
“Really Joshua you should read more about the Greek pantheon I told you-“ And that’s Robicheaux off again. Yeah, he linked him a few Wikipedia articles. And Josh looked at them! But to memorise all of it? After that whole Percy Jackson stunt, do you know how many minor gods have come out of the woodwork, and he has to remember double?
Warm breath ghosts over the shell of his ear, “Trivia.” Josh jumps a little but a glance to the side shows it’s just Vasquez, and he can’t bring himself to mind how close they are to each other.
“Hey! Emma just scolded me about that why doesn’t he-“ Emma slaps a hand over Teddy’s mouth and glares down at him.
“It’s almost time for bed.” Teddy’s about to protest, but another impressive glare from Emma sends him off.
She sighs.
“Teddy’s too young but he wants to come, him and Matthew have been attached at the hip since Teddy was found.” Sam explains for the Romans in the group.
Josh notices Emma glance downward at that, and then he notices her toeing the dirt with her Vans, and then he starts to think how cool they are. And then he’s wondering if he could pull of Vans-
“What are you so lost in though about guero?” Vasquez asks and Joshua turns to look him in the eye.
He can feel the whole group hold their breath.
“If a son of Aphrodite is actually going to be useful on this quest or not.” Josh challenges. And he can feel his hands itching to reach for his deck of playing cards.
Or, rather, his bronze monster fighting pistols hidden as playing cards.
He hears Robicheaux groan behind him. But Vasquez doesn’t snarl, or look mad at all. Instead, he looks oddly amused. Thrilled even. “A god of fetch quests son? Yes, I’m sure there is much you will bring as well.”
“Alejo.” Emma says warningly. Probably not in relation to Josh. She probably just doesn’t want this quest cursed before it begins. Well jokes on her, Mercury, Hermes, whatever you want to call him doesn’t care about Josh, and Josh wants it to stay that way.
“Alejo?” Josh repeats, stunned. That sounds like a name for a kid... not a demigod with a beautiful Baywatch body.
“Alejandro.” Vasquez corrects. But even though he’s biting it out, his eyes are shining merrily. One might say with mischief.
“No sparring today.” Sam breaks in. And that’s the voice of reason heard from.
“Nothings interesting ever happens when you’re around Sam.” Billy says, but him and Robicheaux are already heading off to the biggest house in the camp.
“Come on, you missed dinner si?” Vasquez, Alejandro?, says before walking away leaving Josh no choice but to follow.
And Josh can’t say he minds one butt- Bit. One bit.
This is going to be a long quest.
deltarune chapter two like. god the tension of the wait is so much worse this time now that the story has more of a set rhythm and direction. and like. is it actually going to take more a plunge into its darker elements? Who knows!
