The idea of Daniel being in awe of Lestat is an interesting one! Because on the one hand, Louis's first descriptions of him in 1973 were extremely negative, to a caricature-ish degree, and during the Dubai interview, Daniel made fun of Louis for pretty clearly laying the groundwork for justifying going back to his ex. His ex who was the /worst/. But on the other hand, Lestat is such a force, he attracts people to him for a reason, and he's been an unknowable legend, literally, in Daniel's head for 50 years. A really underrated moment in the Dubai storyline imo is when Louis plays Come to Me for Daniel and Daniel says "That's his voice?" Maybe it's just because I'm really interested in archives and the power of preserved physical objects to connect us to the past, but the surreal experience Daniel was probably having there, getting to hear THE Lestat singing on this very old recording, was extremely interesting to me. He doesn't even know what Lestat looks like, at that point, outside of Louis's description. (Also I maintain that Daniel will always have a bit of a crush on Louis, which adds to the whole Lestat mystique: THIS is the guy LOUIS is so obsessed and in love with?) So yeah, I think the Daniel & Lestat dynamic could be verrrrry interesting and I'm so looking forward to it.

Yeah, it's potentially a really interesting dynamic for all the reasons you said (very much agree too that Daniel will always have a bit of a crush on Louis), and also the fact that Daniel has written a book about Lestat without ever having met him, much less knowing him in the way that he knows Louis and Armand, so he may have a degree of ownership himself over Lestat as a 'character', at least as he appears in his work, and it'll - theoretically - be his first time meeting somebody's maker, the latter of which I can imagine will take on extra weight with Armand having shot through. Add the rockstar component to it all with him colliding with Lestat when he's at his most larger-than-life, and Daniel's effectively young again, I can really see it being a dynamic with a lot of complexity including real reverence and abject disdain. I can't wait to see what they do with them!
