I’m,, uh, real real curious to see what’s going down in evil mecha town.

What do you imagine Lotor and his generals to be like in a Mirror Universe (so if they were the heroes instead of the canon paladins)? What do you imagine Empress Allura to be like in that universe?

Mirror version Lotor is actually a good guy, more in line with probably Keith Personality wise, but with Shiro’s skills as leader. He’s a bit more goofy, probably a slight more shy as a person, and might not have been a confident person. Given what the General of the Altean’s indicated, Lotor’s family was wiped out by Allura, and seeing as he’s half, he may have made it his goal to help Sven and the others fight the Altean’s. I’m pretty sure that he is working with them directly and getting them their supplies. Empress Allura…probably a more strict woman who was a rather cool person who wanted to spread peace but was bitter due to her father’s death and seeing the world in a darker light. She never formed Voltron properly and has it in storage some where. I’m not sure who’s in charge now as Allura in that period is probably dead, but her decendent most likely is not nice, and I have a feeling the Mirror world they went to is where those monsters are from and made by the Alteans. 

The female Generals…who boy..I don’t think their personalities changed all that  much, but they’re certainly friendlier and more willing to work with the Guns group. Knowing them, they still follow Lotor and have a dislike for the Altean’s but they also are friendly to the the humans, so if they had met the Paladins, they would have tried to help them out and explained more to them, and probably painted a very different picture of Allura from that world. 

I have a feeling Red would probably be flirting outright with Lance, and Hunk would make friends with the cat, and his owner. (They’re names are slipping my mind right now. :( ) I also get the feeling that the others Guns look up to them and Lance is constantly flirting with the ladies of the Generals. Although they keep going “Pass” at the idea of doing anything with him right now. Also, I have a feeling that Axca and Lotor probably have it worst in people not trusting them because of their blood line.

What I wanted from Voltron Season 3 and Didn’t Get

A quick ramble based on a conversation my brother and I had while going to do some flooring stuff at my condo.

Imagine the story where the main villains are the Alternate Reality Alteans. Where they find them and bring them back BEFORE Allura realizes what they mean to do to the universe. Imagine her joy at not being the last Altean! Imagine Coran meeting them, talking to them, regaling them with his stories about This History of Altea.

But the Paladins aren’t sure. They don’t trust them, but how do they get Allura and Coran to listen? Coran listens first. He thinks with his heart and he sees what’s going on. He knows it isn’t right. But by now Allura is taken in. She was their empress. And they don’t have power in this universe yet so they keep her on their side. She’s young, impressionable...

And by the time she realizes what’s going on, what they really mean to do, there’s an army of them on this side of the portal. A sizable army and the castle isn’t in her control anymore, not really. They have Voltron, of course, the lions won’t betray them.

They escape, but where do they go? The Alteans can track them, the Alteans are trusted by all of their allies. They’re the good guys and Voltron told them so, didn’t they? There’s nowhere they can guarantee their safety. Now they’re on the run from two sides, stuck together, scared. Allura is even more scared. Wasn’t she their empress? How did her ideals lead her to this path? How does she know the right thing to do?

Now the Alteans make a power play. They go after the Galra, just as they did in their own reality. This time, though, it’s not Zarkon.

It’s Lotor.

And Lotor is unconventional. He sees that Voltron isn’t fighting on the same side as these Alteans. Actually, Voltron has been missing for quite some time. So he, and his generals, go on the hunt.

They find them, of course they do, and this time there’s a truce. Voltron will fight alongside the Galra to defend the universe against the new Alteans. It’s a reflection of the old team, a reflection of the alliances that used to be. Lotor even gets to ride in one of the lions a few times, fascinated by his father’s stories.

Now there’s a new team. Imagine the generals getting to know the paladins, imagine the new jokes! Lance flirting! Hunk cooking! Everyone spying on everyone, fighting, trying to figure out when someone’s being serious and when someone is joking around. Coran telling stories to a disbelieving Lotor. Allura trying to get Lotor’s general to be girly with her. Shiro meeting Sven. Pidge using her knowledge of the Altean ship to track the castle...

It could have been SO MUCH MORE.

PURE SPECULATION but

Lotor could bring the Alternate Reality Alteans back into play. 

1. I don’t think we’re done with Lotor. They’ve invested far too much in him to just finish his character the way they’ve left it in season 6. And apparently nothing stays in the rift so. Lotor has to come back. please

2. Lotor has A LOT in common with those Alteans. They share highly imperialistic views, believe in conquering, and use Altean ideology to bolster their power and ‘right’ to conquer. 

3. Lotor was left in the space between realities as the end of season 6. What if Lotor doesn’t come back to this reality first? What if Lotor winds up in the adjacent reality Voltron visited back in season 3?

It would be such a power move, and such a cool way to tie those Alteans back into the story. 

The show spent a whole episode establishing evil!Alteans and familiarizing us with them, laying out why they’re problematic, emphasizing that *we can’t let them get to our reality*, tying them directly to the second comet -Lotor’s comet-

That episode has already done a lot to develop plot and characters, but I’ve always had the feeling there was more to them than what we’ve seen and this could be why. 

Evil Alteans could be coming back and I am so pumped!

Dark Allura

Creepy thought

From everything we’ve seen about season 3 and the alternate universe Alteans, the pivotal moment was whether or not Allura would be forced into the cryo-chamber.

In other words, there’s potential for VLD-universe Allura to become a potentially genocidal tyrant.

This isn’t an absolute, of course. We have no real idea if this was the first or only deviation. But that Allura has that potential to get so caught up in revenge that she would willingly commit genocide herself makes me… hm. And her legacy is a species of beautiful, arrogant space elves that enslave the minds of all other people that disagree with them.

Without the human Paladins, and hell, we don’t even know if they’ll be enough, Allura has a lot of darkness in her that she hasn’t yet coped with.

I really want to see how that might play out. I’m coming from this as someone who genuinely dislikes the concept of elves and the tropes associated with them, and seeing them subverted as they were in this alternate universe fascinates me.

The Altea we are presented with is meant to be this beautiful utopia. And like all utopias, it is also an illusion. I did like the history episode we are given about the Paladins of Old, but I had problems with it. (Leaders can’t just hare off and leave their own worlds to have adventures with their drinking buddies, yo, they got JOBS and RESPONSIBILITIES and have to ADULT more than what we saw. And don’t get me started on the Blue Paladin flirting with the server. Cute, but fuck that was also bordering on sexual harassment. Dude had a job to do, you are interfering, and he can’t say no you asshole YOU ARE A VISITING FOREIGN POWER) It showed us that Alfor and Zarkon had been friends and allies and while they had differences, they worked things out. I would have loved to see both sides presented as having problems; perhaps the Alteans being frivolous or obsessive, something that, when taken too far, would be a weakness. The highly stratified society of the Galra was shown, but we didn’t get much world building otherwise.

Maybe show Altea as a society that highly valued conformity of thought, valuing the group and social order above individual rights. Something that can be taken too far and be damaging and leads to that. Otherwise we can only surmise it was all Allura’s need for revenge that caused how things went.

This is long and rambling, but, I like the idea of Allura having a dark side we haven’t fully explored yet and I hope we do see the Alteans as more than this sugary image that Allura has of them.
