OOC: I am not trying to dunk on EVIL. I'm kind of an EVIL apologist. I think he gets a lot of unnecessary hate, even though he is really good at what he does. It's just that what he does is sports-entertainy-cheap-heel-heat instead of five-star-strong-style-bangers, so it doesn't always vibe with what (Western) NJPW fans want. But that's also why I think he could do really well in WWE! I think his "style" fits better with WWE than a lot of New Japan talent, and he might actually flourish.
But at the same time, if you are a wrestling fan outside of the WWE PR bubble, EVIL . . . probably isn't the dude you are most excited about. He probably isn't even the former Los Ingobernobles guy signed by WWE that you like the most (*cough*Hiromu*cough*).
So, like, the bots and grifters who will be like "EVIL IN WWE WE ARE WINNING" or whatever . . . like it's EVIL? I think he will do fun stuff. But the hype feels more obviously manufactured and inauthentic in this case. And I am trying to make fun of that and not EVIL himself, who is a very good wrestler who really won me over by doing elaborate "We're not going to cheat this time, really!" bits with SHO in the Best of Super Juniors a few years ago.
