I'm the loser of the game you didn't know you were playing. Let's play another game, this time I get to win.. lives on the line, winner takes all, ready or not, let's begin!
EDIT: WOOPS forgot to mention that this takes place in an AU where Spinel escapes after her injector explodes! she lurkin’
Hey y’all! I’m back w my first post in forever oooomg. I am so sorry. But alas! I am in fact still alive, and still raging on main for the crazy baby. This one is kind of short and I’m not super happy with it being that it’s really a drabble rather than anything. However there’s maybe perhaps a part two coming (that I could actually spend more time on. wink wonk)? Let me know what you guys think!
Summary — You wake up one night with the sinking feeling that you aren’t alone, and you sure aren’t ready for what’s about to happen.
Warnings — a yandere-ish(maybe?) evil!Spinel, because I absolutely love how crazy and sporadic she is before Steven poofs her and come on... we all wish Y/N could have been there for Other Friends, so here’s a maybe-perhaps halfway decent thing I came up with to quench some potential thirst.
The corner of the blanket brushed your nose just enough to surprise you into waking up again. The air was cold and it felt stagnant, and you blinked your eyes open irritably to the soft light filtering in from the moonlight outside. As you began to come to terms with the fact that it was simply just not your night tonight, you let out a groan and turned over. It wasn’t fun for anyone—tossing and turning a lot more than you usually would. You just couldn’t seem to relax, and closing your eyes for more than a minute or so wasn’t really helping in the slightest. It was strange to you though because normally after an exhausting day you’d be out like a light. But tonight just felt . . . off.
So finally all you could do was stare at the ceiling in boredom. The clock on the night table beside you read 3:13AM and an awkward pit in your stomach formed at the thought of the witching hour. You weren’t really crazy into superstitions, but something about this hour in the night was enough to put anyone off at least just a little bit. It was just . . . the time of night where absolutely no one was out and about, right?
Regardless, your mood changed once this realization dawned on you. You couldn’t deny that a weird feeling now filled the air and you weren’t sure what to do with yourself. You wanted to sleep, but boredom was starting to really take effect and so you decided to sit up so you could go grab a cup of water or something of the sort.
That was your first mistake. But whether you did it or not, it definetely wouldn’t have made a difference.
There was a dark mass against the wall that you hadn’t noticed when you went to sleep earlier. At first glance you thought it was just the pile of clothes on the chair in the corner of your room or something, but a pair of piercing magenta orbs seemingly appeared out of thin air and they immediately told you otherwise.
It was a struggle to see it clearly at first, but it really didn’t take long for things to completely unravel after that. Because you quickly realized that it was someone standing in the corner of your room. A bright grin reflected in the soft light and a gentle purr rumbled from her throat.
“Hi, dollface.”
Without so much as a second to think, you lurched up and out from under the covers in an effort to move as far away from her as quickly as you could. But she was quicker.
Her hand shot out from her body and reached all the way across the room to you in the blink of an eye. Before you even had the chance to shriek, her gloved hand had clasped around your jaw and Spinel had already started her approach. The gem pushed you back against the headboard and as she did so, you could finally catch a glimpse of her form illuminated by the soft moonlight. You had heard so much about her before, and now here she was. She had a wide, crooked smile on her face and her eyes went from menacing and teasing to simply interested and playful and back again. She chuckled through gritted teeth and the rings in her eyes nearly had you spinning even from this distance. It was sporadic, hectic, and certainly would have been extremely confusing had you not been so focused on the intense feeling of her fingers digging into the meat of your cheeks.
The gem in question stretched the rest of the way to your bed and you could practically feel every fiber of your being screaming with the fight-or-flight response. Everything you had ever heard about her—the destruction she left behind and the terror she inflicted upon the Crystal Gems and all the other residents of Beach City—all of it came rushing back to you in just a few seconds. And now you were here, face-to-face with the monster that had previously caused so much unnecessary pain on everyone around you for something Pink Diamond did—everyone but you.
Until tonight that is.
“Well, aren’t you just a cutie,” She hissed lowly, slinking up to you and coiling her free arm around yours in the meantime, “You’re Steven’s friend, aren’t ‘cha? Gotta say, I’m a little surprised I haven’t seen you around until now. He never mentioned you before.”
Spinel’s accent sent a shiver down your spine as her voice slowly dropped into something similar to a low growl. The feeling of her skin brushing against yours as she climbed overtop of you was enough to make your stomach pang. Her heated stare raked over the details of your appearance and she continued to bare her teeth in a toothy grin. She yanked you closer to her form and you fell back down onto the mattress from your original place against the headboard with a short yelp. Out of reflex, your hands shot up to grab her wrist in a feeble attempt to pull her off of your jaw, but it only seemed to prompt her to squeeze a little harder.
By now Spinel was simply giddy and terrifying at the same time, slowly inching down so her face was closer to yours and chuckling in a tone that gave you goosebumps. And now that she was straddling you, she was able to lean forward so her form could cast a dark shadow over your paling face. The wild look in her eyes was more than enough to dig a crater of fear into your stomach and you couldn’t hold her intense gaze for more than a mere few seconds. However when you opted to turn your head away and squeeze your eyes shut, her arm had locked in place and her grip on your jaw tightened instead.
Through the haze of dreadful apprehension, you hadn’t realized that your own hands had locked onto her wrist in a death grip as if it would do something useful. Spinel didn’t seem to notice either, she was too focused on that pretty face—all twisted with apprehension. She honestly couldn’t tell for herself whether she liked it or not either. So in order to at least make an attempt to soothe you, she brought her free hand to the side of your face and gently traced her thumb over your cheek. Something in her twisted slightly when you flinched at the sudden touch—was it hurt? It was no secret to herself that she didn’t necessarily enjoy scaring people and other gems, but . . . This situation was different. She had to do this in order to get her message across.
Her voice started with a low giggle, “What’s wrong, honey?”
Images of Beach City’s healing began to flash through your memory. You weren’t here for Spinel’s initial attack, no. But you saw the physical aftermath and the effect it had on every one of its inhabitants—gem and human alike. It was a nightmare. Not only had the population needed immediate rescuing, but the entire planet almost went with it. Steven had managed to save and restore everything, but the gaping scar in the earth before the lighthouse was enough to keep everyone wondering about where and when the volatile pink gem would strike next.
And now it was here—with you.
Spinel had nearly exterminated an entire planet in less than two days. She threatened the lives of hundreds in the immediate area, and now she was here. In your room. With her hand gripping your chin and a sickeningly sweet smile across her face.
You were quiet for a long few moments before she decided that she’d had enough of that. Without warning, she released her hold on your jaw and her arm had slinked down to your middle instead. All you could do was squeeze your eyes shut and stifle the beating of your heart to keep it from bursting out of your chest, as if any of it would block what was happening in realtime. You could tell she was leaning closer to you now, and when she spoke again the closeness was more than enough to startle you all over again. She was hovering mere inches from the side of your face and whispered, “Aw, come on now. I’m not that ugly, am I, [Name]?”
Your name. Spinel knows your name.
You were quiet again and now you knew that she didn’t seem thrilled about it. Her tone was still gentle with you however, “You can look at me, doll. I’m not really gonna hurt you.” The gem’s opposing arm drew away from caressing your face and instead she brought her fingers into the crook of your neck. She was gently angling your head up so she could get a good look at you and it almost made you inwardly curl into a ball when you finally made eye-contact, “If you just listen.”
As you searched her eyes you could see there was a sort of calmness about her now—her wild stare had faded into a gentle gaze and her nose and brows weren’t scrunched anymore. She finally let go of your chin and opted to use that hand to stroke your cheek with her thumb instead. Spinel let out a quiet purr when she spoke again, “Hm,” then she giggled again in that same sickening tone, “Thats better.”
Drug/Happy Spinel may be adorable and I love her to death but I don’t think anybody should forget about Evil Spinel. She walked so Drug Spinel could run.
I mean you just can’t possibly
Compete with this.
Ya just can’t.
