Hiiiiiiiiiiiii I don't know anything about Evilquest and idk if I'm doing this right, but for the love asks, 3, 4, 5, 7 (about what they'd like to do), 8, 10, and 11 :3 Feel free to leave some out if you don't want to answer them all ^^
Since you didn't specify a character, I'll cover everyone who I have an interesting response for.
3. What does your OC look for in a romantic (or perhaps purely sexual) partner?Ā Is this always healthy?
Jo, Phoibe, Twelve, and Laural have the most defined ideas of what they want in a relationship. Jo & Phoibeās preferences have less to do with personality and more compatibility⦠Phoibe is tenebrous and Joās a bit of a flexible carmine.
Tenebrous and carmine (along with pallid and vivid) are descriptors used for what quadrants people use, with tenebrous and carmine covering color (positive or negative quadrants) while pallid and vivid cover saturation (sexual or nonsexual quadrants). These arenāt exactly analogous to aspec identities, as the quadrants are social definitions of romanceā an alloace person may just have a nonsexual matespritship, while a pallid troll wouldnāt touch matespritship at all. The terms arenāt really widespread, owing to the compulsory nature of quadrantsā concupiscent quadrants are āfill or dieā while conciliatory quadrants, though devalued, are still seen as essential societal obligations. To go without any, intentionally, is to fail your duty.Ā
Joās preference for red quadrants is a mix of bad experience and simple mathematicsā she needs admiration, and quadrants founded on tearing each other down (albeit ideally to push the partners out of their comfort zone) just arenāt appealing to her. Relationships are a matter of transaction, and positive transaction is a lot more tolerable than violence. If she were to be in a kismesissitude, she wants the upper hand at all times.
Phoibe likes to fix things with metaphorical fireā taking them apart to see how they work, pushing people to their breaking points, etc. Sheās Girl Jigsaw, after all! The expectation of a red romance to be all positive all the time feels choking and insincere to her.
Twelve has been trained well by the childrenās propaganda cartoon Sparkle Princess Cleanses the Lowbloods, and has little relationship experience to herself. This absence means that she, along with Liemys, probably have the most clear-cut ideas of quadrants among the cast. She is a little bit weird for valuing all quadrants about the sameā Jo struggles sorting out her current quadrant situation because she has the idea that <> < <3, but Twelve doesnāt. She knows what she wants from each relationship rather simply. Someone to hurt as a way to feel in control, and someone to control her.Ā She's been told that she's dangerous, so she needs to be pacified.
Laural⦠itās less that she has a clear idea of what she wants in a partner and more an idea about what she wants of a relationship. She thinks the best relationship is a jigsaw puzzle, essentially, incomplete pieces slotted perfectly into each otherās gaps to create a beautiful picture. A love of inversions. It very much helps with her lack of identity; she can define herself in opposition to another person, and that process means she doesnāt overlap with or become subsumed into them. Joās an evil vampire, so Laural will be the martyr to fix her.Ā
She is being <3-courted by Liemys āMisogynyā Camisa though⦠for now she is unaware, but Iām sure it can only go well :)
4. Does your OC consider themselves to be attractive?Ā Do they put much effort into achieving this?
Phoibe, Liemys, and Jo consider themselves hot shit, but only the first puts much effort into it. Her goth style admittedly requires much more effort than the emo and ā¦Renfield aesthetics that the latter two have respectively.Ā
For fun, Iāll toss in more appearance-effort notes, unrelated to attractiveness.Ā
Victil puts probably the most effort other than Phoibe into his appearance, with his archaically formal style of dress more typical of the early 19th century than a modern teenager, and foundation to cover up his ill, insomniac countenance. This is especially jarring compared to his ashmate Wesson, whose outfit is some incredibly basic 2000s teen dressā just a graphic tee and jeans, with bleached hair. Twelve puts effort into her clothing; she thinks the longcoat + turtleneck + tactical pants + combat boots are rad as hell (and sheās right), but she doesnāt really put effort into the rest of herā her hairās messy, claws unclipped, eyes sunken.Ā
Least effort goes to Fedalt and the Bard, the former for practicality (she has chronic fatigue), and the latter for ascetic punishment.
5. Would your OC ever take advantage of someone's romantic feelings in order to manipulate them?
Jo, Phoibe, Liemys, and the Heir would.Ā
Joās manipulation is by far the least manipulative. Itās a little difficult to describe because I donāt believe that leading people on is a real thing, but she would like the attention and gifts even if she has no intention of reciprocating it. Sheās in a bit of a conundrum where someone having a crush on her is flattering until it becomes uncomfortable. Her low sympathy low affective empathy awesomeness.Ā
Phoibe, again, is about pushing people into dire circumstances until they snap and make a change. She is already actively manipulating her quadmates, and has by far the easiest time of it with Twelve, even moreso given that Phoibe has some basic information documents on her from the research facility.Ā
Liemys is a little bitch who sucks and I donāt like him. Heās inspired by 2000s emo/pop-punk boy bands, specifically pulling from the misogyny and slut-shaming of the era. You do the math.Ā
The Heir is a self-identified dark empath, which means she intentionally harms people while having cognitive empathy but not affective empathy, I think? (Dark empath seems to me a deeply chuuni label that edgelords who believe in empathy warfare use to place themselves above the demonic narcissists.) Anyway. Sheās a lower midbloodā olive, to be specificā so anything that can help further her goals and the grind is useful to her.
8. Does your OC pursue only monogamous relationships? Or are they open to other, more creative, options?
Everyone in this story is haunted by the spectre of crushing amatonormativity except for Suwulf. Jo, Laural, and Fedalt are probably the closest to breaking out of monogamy in specificā the reason their triangle is in such an awful state is because Jo is ranking her relationships as sheās expected to do, but the social expectations of those roles run counter to her and Lauralās wants, their infidelity makes Fedalt feel unwanted, but to Jo changing around her moirail and matesprit would be abandoning Fedalt and she doesnāt want to do that, but Fedalt doesnāt like giving up on people so she kind of just has to deal with it, and Lauralās only adding fuel to the fire because being Joās bloodbag means she has a purpose. Terrible terrible lesbian situation. Not all love triangles can be solved by polyamory, but this one can.
11. Has your OC ever been the object of someone's affections that they did not (or could not) reciprocate?
Laural, as stated above, and Liemys! Twelve has a poorly-hidden flush-crush on him, and while he thinks she's a little cute, she isn't ready, you know? She has absolutely no experience in relationships, and while that's fine for a less serious quadrant like moirallegiance, he'd prefer to keep his flushed quadrant clean, for a pretty girl who legally exists.
