El sustituto virtual para EVO 2020 ya no se llevará a cabo, esto tras las acusaciones hechas contra Joey Cuellar. Aunque la decisión de la cancelación del torneo terminó siendo más por presión hacia los organizadores, que por iniciativa propia.

2020 is AWESOME.
Evo Online has been cancelled after multiple game developers, esports organizations, hosts and competitors backed out of the event in response to sexual misconduct allegations against EVO CEO and co-founder Joey "MrWizard" Cuellar. Tony Canon, a fellow co-founder of Evo, will take over the role of CEO from Cuellar.
In the past 24 hours, in response to serious allegations recently made public on Twitter, we have made the first of a series of important decisions regarding the future of our company. Effective immediately, Joey Cuellar will no longer be involved with EVO in any capacity. We are currently working towards his complete separation from the company and have relieved him of all responsibilities.
Going forward, Tony Canon will act as CEO; in this position, he will take a leadership role in prioritizing greater accountability across EVO, both internally and at our events.
Progress doesn't happen overnight, nor without the bravery of those who speak up against misconduct and injustice. We are shocked and saddened by these events, but we are listening and committed to making every change that will be necessary in making EVO a better model for the stronger, safer culture we all seek. As a result, we will be canceling EVO Online and will be working to issue refunds to all players who chose to purchase a badge. We will donate the equivalent of the proceeds as promised to Project HOPE.

Tras la cancelación del EVO 2020 debido a la actual pandemia de COVID-19, se había anunciado oficialmente el EVO Online, y ahora sabemos que cinco fines de semana serán ocupados con exhibiciones de los juegos principales del evento (salvo Smash y MvsC2)
Además, el EVO Online presentará cuatro torneos online abiertos para Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, Killer Instinct, Them’s Fightin ’Herds y Skullgirls 2nd Encore.
Las fechas del torneo son las siguientes:
4 al 5 de julio 11 al 12 de julio 18 al 19 de julio 25 al 26 de julio 31 de julio al 2 de agosto La información de registro y eventos se anunciará en una fecha posterior.
Evolution Championship Series has officially announced EVO Online, five weekends of fighting game tournaments with special exhibitions and content for EVO 2020’s original lineup (excluding Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Marvel vs. Capcom 2).
Additionally, EVO Online will feature four open online tournaments for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, Killer Instinct, Them’s Fightin’ Herds, and Skullgirls 2nd Encore.
The tournament dates are as follows:
July 4 to 5
July 11 to 12
July 18 to 19
July 25 to 26
July 31 to August 2
Registration and event information will be announced at a later date.
