Wasn't Jimmy Blue Eyes the one who Charlie supposedly sent up to check on Meyer after Buddy's diagnosis?
he was, yeah, and by all accounts he and meyer were pretty close, they were definitely really good friends after charlie and benny were out of the picture, but it seems like charlie knew jimmy first, and meyer didn’t even meet jimmy til 1929, so he’s not a great source for the early-days stuff. if this book was a biography of jimmy i’d be more forgiving, and the comments the author’s included from his interview with him are interesting, but he was also in his 90s when the interview happened, so i don’t buy a whole lot of it
