May’s Exceptional Story in Fallen London is The Stalking House by Jim Rossignol.

The house has long, abyssal windows like the empty sockets of a skull. Violant, scintillating smoke trails downward – downward! – from its chimney. It is watching you.

You are being followed. That by itself is bad enough, but your unwelcome tail is nothing other than a townhouse. A townhouse! It pursues you across the city, and resists your efforts to find its front door. Thankfully, the Punitive Architect, representative of the Institute of Tractable Buildings, is on hand to help. Are her methods sound? Is this a good idea? And frankly, why you?

Prophet Ranks FL Exceptional Stories

Here’s a ranking list of the ES stories that i’ve played so far, as well as a general opinion on them. There’s some very minor spoilers but ive tried to keep it as vague as possible. 

Ranking these was suggested to me by @vonlipvig, great idea Jules <3 

1. The Ballad Of Johnny Croak 

I absolutely love this one, the right balance of a meaningful story, great humour, fun characters, and players choices, its by far my favorite of the ones i played. Johnny is my son.

2. Adornment

This one was extremelllllly good. The characters were interesting, the stakes were high, the writing was fantastic, and it had a bunch of tie ins with items/amibtions you have!

3.The Queen of Elephants

I had so much fun playing this one. The combo of thievery and dreams is right up my ally, and like most of Tuffs’ stories it provides so many choices and ways of turning the story around.

4. The Icariuan Cup

Can you tell I like Tuff’s work? Cuz he’s my favourite ES writer, ive loved all his story. This one… gosh I dont want to give the plot away. But i wil say its the reason for my recent interest in a certain machine. 

5. The Gift 

This one was fun. The captivating princess is one of my favourite characters, and the horror in the story is top touch. I really recommend playing it. 

6. Lost in Reflections

Story is fantastic, I love July, and the whole writing of the story is well done. There’s some parts of it that are still ehhhhh with it being old revs writing that did not age well (none of the old revs writing did), but I look beyond that for how fun this story is.

7. The Crocodile Who Would Be King

Im gonna be real I didnt understand most of what happened in the story, but it was Intersting Mechanics Wise, and there were some Nemesis tie ins so it was a highlight for me, 

8. Say it With Flowers

A fun fact about me is that I really love flower language. Any of the artistic art pieces i do with flowers in the background were chosen for a reason. Suffice to say, I loved this story for that reason alone. 

9. My Kingdom for a Pig

Enjoyable story with good writing and some very good lore exploration. And Rhyming.

10. The Empress' Shadow

This one I like because of Sinning Jennys involvement in it, and also just… general other characters involved. Its amusing and also heartbreaking in parts. 

11. The Shallows 

This one is fun, i enjoyed the writing and the horror aspects of it a fair bit, and it had some good mechanics options. I will say it really suffers from the old rev writing though ouch. It was only 2019 too, not that long ago. Im glad FB made the changes they did to the writing in 2020.

12. Sugarplum 

It Free Pubby Dog. This one was decent, didnt understand parts of it, but I love drama between the masters so it was good in my book. And its styled in a sort of detective story way, was fun.

13. Caveat Emptor

 I’ll be honest i still dont really understand what happened in this story rip. I did get to kiss a vampire tho and it was very sexc. (I think this is the time where I say that  whilst I know a lot of people like Groover’s work and i can see the appeal, unfortunately his writing style just does not work for me. I find his stories really hard to understand and follow, so I don’t like them as much )

14. Inheritance

Just played this one today. It was decent, wasn’t super exciting but I thought the lore was interesting and I enjoyed Mr Apples’ involvement 

15. Tontentanz 

I’ll be honest i only somewhat remember this one. I got to piss off Wines though so it was great. 

16. Dernier Cri

One again falls into a spot of not fitting my character. Was a very short story, wasnt a huge fan. I did like some of the political concepts, it had some nice humor in it, and the character art was neat, but otherwise its a ‘meh’ from me. 

17. A Stretch in the Sky

Right now we’ve hit the stories that fall into “Didn’t like”. This one was dull. It had the promise of what could of been an interesting story but fell flat on the delivery. 

18. A House of Silk and Flame

I completely dont remember what happened in this one. Something to do with Arbor. There were some fun moments in parts of it but none of it grabbed my attention 

19. Mistress of The Skies

Gonna be real I genuinely hated this one. There was some interesting lore concepts with the makeup, but it was just so badly railroaded and didnt fit my character at all, and I couldnt come to care about the characters.
