How I get almost-straight A's without even really studying :) [+ study tips / motivation] [guys I swear I usually do get straight A's but I just missed them last term]
Engage in class. PLEASE. Work SMART, not hard. Be present. Answer questions. Ask questions. And if you can't do that, PAY ATTENTION PLEASEEE
Ask questions / for help. Don't even feel bad for asking because:
Someone else probably wanted to ask the same question but was too shy to
Your question probably never crossed anyone else's mind and it probably promotes thought
You are not sitting in that classroom just to leave it without understanding. Hello. Understanding concepts is your responsibility, so ASK FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT
That's what teachers are there for. They can't tell you no. And if they do, then it's probably for a good reason or it's not that deep. This is their job. Whether they like it or not.
At least you won't feel useless and as if you weren't even trying because you did
Do your homework yourself. There's literally no point in mindlessly copying someone else's work if you have no idea what in the world is going on. You might as well not even do the homework then because you are getting yourself nowhere. Even if you do use the Internet, don't only search for answers. Search for explanations.
Know when you can mess around and when you can't. There's a time and place for everything. Even if you don't care about paying attention in class, stop messing things up for people who are actually there with a purpose.
Be the person who's there with a purpose.
Prioritise everything. Your time, your tasks, everything. If your friends get mad because you decided to put academics first, find new ones, thank you. A real friend wants what's best for you, so if yours doesn't want you to lock in, get rid of them 😇
DO NOT FREAK OUT. Do not over study, do not panic, and do not let anxiety take over. It's hard, but relax. Trust yourself. You can do this. You got this.
Don't study to memorise. Study to understand. There is a difference. Questions in the test are hardly the same as the questions you learnt in class, so in this situation, apply yourself. If you simply swatted everything off, you're done. Unless of course it's something like literature (the boring part where you need to quote things and reference scenes) or history or something.
No one actually has time to sit down and study. Work smart. Use past exam papers as a guideline to see how questions are asked, and if you are lucky, questions may be reused. If you can't find past exam papers at your library, look them up online. [Idk where you're from, but if you're South African, click here to find test papers for all grades and subjects + their memos]
Give yourself a break if you're tired. It's fine. It's natural. Obviously you won't be able to work efficiently if your mind is exhausted. Sleep it out and start again when you're energised.
Don't study or enter a classroom or whatever while you're in a bad mood. Don't. Moods and emotions are not your enemy, but they cannot control you. They are distractions. No one wants to be in that dumb ahh classroom. Get over it.
Allow yourself to make mistakes.
Help other people because by teaching them if they need it.
And nowwww, study motivation :)
Do it for yourself. Don't you want to get awards and stuff at the end of the year? Of course you do. So work for it.
If you can't do it for yourself, do it for your parents. I know. Sometimes you hate them. Sometimes you want to disappoint them because they disappoint you. But be so for real. They do a lot for you (yes, I know it's their duty, but still). At least stop wasting their money on school fees chat come on 💀💀💀
Being smart is fun. You get to throw around witty facts and people respect you for it
Main characters are almost all smart, chat, be so fr. Be the main character. Live your life. Slay.
People can steal things from you all the time but no one will ever be able to take away the things you know. And the things you know are valuable and may be put to good use.
High grades = higher chance of winning a bursary or getting a higher discount in university
... and the dreaded toxic motivation :( [please do nyatt believe any of this but if it'll motivate you to study, then um... okay :3]
Pick a struggle. It's not your fault if you think you're ugly because you can't control that, but it is most definitely your fault if you're dumb because that right there was your choice. You chose not to educate yourself. Pick one. You can only be ugly or stupid because being both is pathetic.
[You're not ugly and you're definitely not stupid but you do need to get studying, silly.]
You can't be a financial burden forever. Your parents will get fed up of living with you if you aren't in university and you don't bring much to the table. If you decide to just marry a rich person, they can and will throw in your face the fact that you're using their money.
Feelings are for the weak. Being tired is a state of mind, and you can fight that off. Lock the hell in and get your life in order, for your own sake.
[You are allowed to feel tired and angsty and unmotivated. It's okay. It's all part of being human. You will feel better later.]
Proof that my advice isn't shit:
Half of the first and last shelf are mine [the last shelf being the one that isn't properly in]
And the second and third shelf from the bottom are also mine :3
The rest are my big sister's
[And NO, I am not showing off]
[I just don't like being seen as dumb]
[Especially because I act dumb online]
