Two of the women Denys @FinchHattons dated in his life in Kenya wrote about him. Karen Blixen in "Out of Africa" and Beryl Markham, the aviator, in "West with the Night." Many more books have been written about this man in the years since. The Tsavo was special in the first of these stories, but as he was bound to do, Finch "loved the land-and the freedom it symbolised-more than he loved her (Karen Blixen). For a man who wasn't the most handsome, the richest or even the most intelligent, the kind of person he became was unusual. He was a charmer, an adrenaline addict, a hunter and conservationist, and the member of a dying gentry. ...and after he died, in the cockpit of a Gipsy Moth above Voi, they wrote on his grave" "He prayeth well, who loveth well both man and bird and beast". This place, named for him, is a worthy legacy. #Finchhattons #Kenya #exploretsavo #Tsavo #Travel #MagicalKenya #Tembeakenya
