25. Linear or non-linear, and why?

Hmm. I personally (currently) write linear because that’s just how the stories are panning out, but I love well-written non-linear structures too. I’d love to write one, but don’t know that I have the focus to do it well at the moment.

29. Who do you write for?

I’m shameless, I write for the reader. I don’t compromise my “vision” for want of a better phrase, sometimes I write to get the idea out of my head, but at the end of the day it’s because I want people to read and enjoy. I wouldn’t publish stuff if it wasn’t at least partially for the readers.

30. Favorite line you’ve ever written.

Oh shit. I can’t think off the top of my head, but this line from “In Another Life” got a particularly good response: “Death has a way of smoothing out the features that even sleep can’t achieve.” It’s not my personal favourite, but it’ll do till I can think of one lol.

for song recs, down from the sky or the darkened of my mind (both by trivium) or 4 words to choke upon by bullet for my valentine?

Down From the Sky:

To be honest, I have absolutely no problem listening to most metal. However, Trivium is just one of those metal bands I cannot really get into, no matter how many songs I listen to by them. I genuinely cannot stand this guy’s unclean vocals at all to be honest. The clean vocals and that little guitar solo around the 4:00 mark? Those I did like. I don’t even know if the unclean/clean vocals are sung/screamed by the same guy, but it’s not suiting me here. Maybe it’s just this song? Sorry about this one.

The Darkened of My Mind:

Much better, ha. I like the guitar better on this one rather then the first one. That’s one of the things I miss about listening to metal all the time. Just hearing that one/two guitarist(s) just absolutely shred... Also, is this the same guy that sung the first song? They just sound so different! This one I would say I really liked.

4 Words to Choke Upon:

Oh my God, I have not listened to a Bullet For My Valentine song in years, ha. This one was a nice throwback. Definitely don’t mind his unclean vocals and his clean vocals were just as good here. BFMV’s guitar work is absolutely stellar here too and probably a lot of their other songs as well. This one, in particular, had a nice metalcore vibe to it and it threw back to when I used to listen to nothing but metalcore bands basically, ha.
