idk if we’re still on schism gen content but for the Calibans ie as we guess F Snicket on the family tree, that to me is Francesca Caliban (nee Snicket) so here’s my notes for her

(note that i take elements from netflix and from the books/tua that i like and mash them together in my own little lore. Olivia here is Netflix!Olivia)

didn’t have much not involvement, but success with VFD? she wasn’t The Part and as a teen just dipped and no one went after her. not even the firestarting side

had no contact with E. Snicket thanks to VFD and her own disinterest in her successful-with-VFD sister

thus Olivia didn’t know the Snickets were her cousins for a while

oh and Olivia never got snatched (soz i just wanted her to have a happy childhood)

Francesca was not a very nice woman.

sure she was orphaned and abandoned by VFD and fended for herself through the 1910′s-20′s City but i think she was a bad apple cruel bitch naturally

i do like the Olivia and Miranda are related theory and think half sisters - Francesca had Miranda through an African-American jazz singer (one night stand) during her City time. Miranda is 12 years older than Olivia and left Francesca when Olivia was too young to remember her

Francesca married a Norfolk Caliban - very quiet man, did what he was told - cutting him off from the Caliban family

i don’t know how the fuck she had three kids. but she had Miranda, then a Norfolk Jnr. and Olivia with Norfolk Snr.. by the time Olivia was 11 both Miranda and Norfolk Jnr. had left the Calibans (Miranda went to her father, Teddy went to Prufrock)

(in one au idea i had. Norfolk Jnr. was Book!Olivia, a year older than Olivia tho i was like eh and scrapped it. Book!Olivia is Olivia’s paternal cousin, a Caliban herself)

yes Francesca was a bad Mother. bad wife. she often left the family while Norfolk was at work, and gambled and drank and did who knew what with other men in bars and pubs to cope with VFD traumas

i think tho she dismissed her time with VFD, the trauma was still there and made her that ignorant of her children and unfaithful to her husband. they fuck you up, your mum and dad

of course i’m gonna say more about Olivia (!!). who Francesca ignored most of the time since she “didn’t seem right” (undiagnosed adhd) and tried to make do chores, before she grew older and realised she was in a Matilda situation (pre-Matilda being written)

when Olivia was 11 Francesca subtly abandoned her by leaving her with Norfolk’s decade younger sister Gwendolyn over a summer and never collecting her. but Gwendolyn raised both Olivia and her cousin Madame (Book!Olivia). 

in the time Olivia didn’t hear of her Mother i think she kept up her gambling and cheating facade since that was who and all she became, sadly

when Francesca left Olivia with Gwendolyn, Olivia didn’t hear anything for two years, until news came that both she and Norfolk Snr. had died in a car-train collision. the circumstances weren’t mysterious*. Francesca had driven in the path of a train. what else would have happened.

Olivia doesn’t miss her. i doubt anyone does.

The children of Charles Snicket: Delilah, Esther and Feivel 

Delilah Beatrix Anwhistle, the eldest child. After her parents’ (supposed) death, she and her siblings were adopted by a terrifying woman, whom Delilah suspected of trying to poison her; D herself had a huge interest in poisons, specifically those from plants. The Botanist has a strong sense of self-preservation, and in fact consistently puts herself before anything else, including her siblings. She’s not prideful or arrogant by any means, but she’s not about to sacrifice herself for anyone else. 

After escaping her guardian and being recruited by the Volunteer Fire Department, Delilah finds herself training under botany and toxicology. She also ends up marrying into the Anwhistle family. After joining VFD, though, she rarely talks to her siblings, though she’s not too concerned; she was never very close to them anyway. 

Esther Maud Snicket, the middle child. Even before her orphaning, Esther was the ignored child, and a lifetime of neglect have given her high, thick walls to shield her emotions. Outwardly, she’s antisocial, sarcastic and bitter, but inwardly, she wishes she was closer with her siblings. Her parents always told her that Snickets take care of their own, but she’s never had reason to believe them. 

She gets very involved with VFD, firstly because her special interest is private investigation, and the organization gives her the opportunity to become a detective. Secondly, though, she feels like the organization holds people who actually care about her... not the least of which being Jacob, who seems to be the only person who cares to listen to her. 

Feivel Alan Caliban, the youngest child. He always felt separate from his sisters due to their large age gap and his tendency to go nonverbal. He tends to sit silently in the corner with his puzzle and strategy games, letting everyone else do the harder work. But while he cherishes being alone, he also wishes he could belong somewhere, with someone. But Delilah barely pays attention to him, and though Esther tries, she never seems to understand him. 

VFD gives Feivel the opportunity to hide in the wings, completing increasingly complex puzzles and solving codes for their field agents. He loves his work, as it lets him do what he enjoys and gain a sense of belonging at the same time. He eventually marries into the Caliban family, and surprises even himself by being a devoted and loving father. He sometimes wishes, later in life, that he’d been able to connect with his sisters, because family is supposed to come first, but it’s a bit too late for that...

Honestly speaking, I had half a mind to not post it, but then I went ‘eh’ because it’s the last day of 2020 and I want to end it with a ‘bang’ that’s a bit impressive, and like...I doubt I’ll attempt to draw them as a fully body portrait again, let along have a shoot load of OSG members ‘together’.

Bonus Drawing: OSG OCs, some more develop than others.

Mr. Anwhistle and V Caliban are the one OCs to get a full body portrait because they’re the one I have develop the most out of the OCs I have so far for ASOUE. I probably could have worded Mr. Anwhistle’s description much better in hindsight, but it’s too late for me to try finding the actual paper and erase everything to write a better one. The other three are still WIPs, and in Widdershins Sr’s case, I’m trying to revamp him with ATWQ in mind because I saw an opportunity and took it.

the mary moo cow thing: every time i look at the cow photo in tua, i’m just thinking, ‘okay, i know disguises work well, but there’s no way this actually looks like the photo.’ i ended up watching some old re-run of arthur on tv and went ‘screw it we’re going mary moo cow style’.

Re-drawn portraits/revise headcanons for minor canon characters (I drew them around the beginning of January). I also drew/headcanon my interpretation of their spouses on the other side, but I wasn’t happy with the final product so it’s not getting uploaded. From the three here and those that will never be uploaded, I deliberately drew all six of them coming from the 1960′s/1970′s (more 1960′s) either by clothing or hairstyle because I wanted to experiment with the decades for the fun of it (so it isn’t true 1960′s/1970′s).

drawn around the same time, they have no relation to one another. the first is random sketches of an alternate vfd insignia that are closer or difference from the books + netflix, with f and kit t-posing (also first time i drew kit looking more like her book counterpart). the second is a comic page of sorts featuring e. i headcanon e as a da investigator, and since kit got arrested in ATWQ, i kind of wanted to figure out how would E react to it. not shown in drawing because of her animal crossing left hand, but she and jacob are still married to one another so she has a ring, it’s just absent due to the style.

asdfjkl another sketch dump of sorts. there’s f snicket and his wife v (viola) caliban. i know the aesthetic of asoue is pretty much the first half of the 20th century, at least up to the 1950′s, but i believe vfd would go nuts with some 60′s and 70′s clothing because they can get away with an eye motif (see f’s pants).

surrounding the couple is two floating head ‘comics’ staring the caliban children. i headcanon olivia and n (nestor) weren’t happy with miranda’s engagement to thursday, because he reminded the two siblings of their bio-dad (f snicket is their stepfather in my headcanon). olivia’s ‘i can’t believe you accepted his proposal’ thought comment is because she’s wondering if miranda is blinded by their similarities.
