part two of the welcome to wherever you are verse
author's note: i'm so glad that you guys loved the first part of the welcome to wherever you are verse! i was so excited to make this into a series, combining two of my current hyperfixations. i hope that the first part was enough to make some of you curious about the life and times of my favourite aussie rock band. for people who are looking to learn more, i recommend watching the channel seven drama 'never tear us apart', starring luke arnold as micheal hutchence. it's two episodes, each of them an hour and a half that takes a look into the rise and fall of inxs. arnold's protrayal of micheal was beautifully done (and i love alex williams as kirk).

a/n: I had so much fun writing this, this is part of the missing home universe!!<3
After three years and two months of spending every day and every night with your little girl, the day had finally come where she had decided she wanted to stay at her grandmother's house.
After three years and two months of spending every day and every night with your little girl, the day had finally come where she had decided she wanted to stay at her grandmother's house.
The idea had come spontaneously, you, Charles and little Juliette had gone to Pascale’s house for dinner like you always did on Friday nights when there wasn’t a race.
Charles’ older brother, Lorenzo had also come over that night, bringing his wife and his two year old daughter, Olivia along for the occasion.
This weekend in particular, Lorenzo and his wife were dropping Olivia off for the next three days as they were headed out of town for a couple of days for a friend's wedding. Juliette had caught onto the idea of what a sleepover meant that night- though she had never seemed intrigued by them at all in times past. The moment she realized that her baby cousin would be staying at grandma’s house for the whole weekend, Juliette’s eyes lit up.
The moment you saw Juliette run over to you and Charles with that look on her face, you instantly knew she wanted something. You pulled your hand out of your boyfriend’s grip and held both of your arms out for the little girl, lifting her up into your lap when she finally wrapped her small arms around you.
“Maman, puis-je avoir une soirée pyjama avec grand-mère et Olivia?" (mama, can I have a sleepover with grandma and olivia?)
You looked at the little girl in your lap, watching as her face grew brighter while asking her question. “Je ne sais pas, ma chérie…" (I don’t know, sweetie…) you said with a sigh, tucking a piece of her curly chocolate brown hair behind her ear. The idea of being away from Juliette for 48 hours scared you, even though she would be in great care.
Ever since Juliette was born, you had made a promise to yourself and to Juliette that you would be there for her 24/7. With Charles being gone so often with racing, you wanted Juliette to have some sort of consistency in her life.
Although at times this proved to be mentally, emotionally, and physically draining, you had lived up to your promise. Everywhere you went, she went. The grocery store, races, even a simple walk through the streets of Monaco. That exact promise was the reason you hadn’t attended a race for 2 and half years up until last season.
“s'il vous plaît, maman!!” (please, mama!) Juliette said with almost a whining tone, proving just how badly she wanted to spend the weekend with her baby cousin and her grandma.
You smiled faintly and kissed Juliette’s cheek gently. “Alright, I suppose that’s ok” you said, knowing that Charles had been encouraging this for the past year so consulting him wouldn’t be necessary.
“Merci, maman!!” Juliette said before kissing your cheek and sliding off of your lap, running back over to Olivia.
As you watched Juliette run out of arm's reach, you got up out of your chair at the table and smiled slightly. “I’ll be back” you announced to everyone before turning on your heels and making your way towards the other side of Pascale’s home. You opened the balcony doors and slipped out onto the small patio space before closing the doors behind you, ensuring yourself some privacy.
As you looked over the city of Monaco, you couldn’t help but wonder how this weekend was going to go. You were going to miss Juliette dearly- there was no doubt about it- but would she miss you? Would she even think of you? What if she missed you too much that she ended up crying for you at night? Was this the right decision?
Your mind continued to race as it always did whenever you were face to face with any kind of parenting issue.
Had Charles not put his hands on your waist, you wouldn’t have even known he was there, too zoned out to acknowledge the presence of anyone else.
“Cherie, is everything ok?” he asked, placing a gentle kiss to your shoulder as he rubbed up and down both of your arms gently.
You sighed and leaned back into his chest, continuing to look out over the city of Monaco. “Just nervous for this weekend I guess. I’ve spent every day and every night of her life with her and the idea of spending 48 hours without her running around or asking for something every five minutes scares me.. I just hope I did the right thing, you know?”
Charles turned you around, allowing you to face him as he placed a gentle kiss on your lips. “You absolutely did the right thing, mon amour. You waited for Juliette to decide she was ready for a sleepover, you didn’t force it on her, nor did you ask her if she was interested. She made the decision all on her own, with your approval of course. She’s lucky to have a mother like you.”
You sighed and looked into Charles' eyes, nodding gently. “It’s just so.. Strange. I love watching her grow up and being completely fearless, but I also feel like as she grows up, she needs me less and less you know? It’s just going to be hard this weekend without her…”
Charles nodded, taking in everything you said before wrapping his arms around you. “I know, my love. The house will be quiet without her, but it’ll give us some alone time together.. We haven’t had that in months, you know”
“You don’t have any work to do this weekend?”
Charles shook his head, pulling you into a kiss. “I did all of my meetings last night, I'm all yours this weekend, mon amour. We can watch movies, eat pizza, drink wine.. Maybe even try for that second mini leclerc we talked about at the gala a couple of months ago…” he said with a smirk, wiggling his eyebrows.
You laughed and rolled your eyes before pulling him into a tight hug. “It’s getting late, we should probably say our goodbyes to Juliette now…”
Charles nodded, grabbing your hand as he opened the balcony door, stepping back into the house that had been just slightly warmer than the outside temperatures. “Jules, Maman et papa doivent y aller” (jules, mom and dad have to get going) Charles said, walking over to Juliette before kneeling down in front of her. “Se comporter pour grand-mere” (behave for grandma)
Juliette frowned, looking up at both you and Charles. "Où allez-vous?" (where are you going?) she asked, almost as though she was confused. Maybe she hadn’t really understood the concept of a sleepover.
“Home, sweetie. You’re spending the weekend with grandma, remember?” Charles said, pulling the confused girl into a tight hug.
Juliette nodded, her tiny arms hugging Charles tight. She still didn’t really have any idea what was happening, but she knew that she wanted to get back to playing with olivia. “Au revoir, papa” she said before breaking the hug with Charles and turning to hug you. “Au revoir, maman”
You smiled sadly and placed a kiss on your daughter's forehead before she managed to slip away, running back over to Olivia without any second thoughts.
Charles stood up and held his hand out to you, interlocking your fingers once you had accepted his hand. “Let's get going, my love. The pizza is out for delivery, we don’t want to miss it”
With a quick goodbye and a call if you need anything to Pascale, you and Charles were out the door, leaving your daughter behind.
The car ride home was silent, both you and Charles being deep in thought as the car maneuvered its way through the streets of Monaco. Though Charles didn’t admit it, he was starting to have second thoughts about letting Juliette stay away for two nights in a row.
When he pulled into the driveway and parked the car, Charles turned in his seat to look at you. “Not having her in the backseat made the ride home so quiet…”
You nodded, looking over at him. “Yeah, I know. We didn’t have to listen to baby shark..”
Charles sighed and squeezed your hand “I know this is all new to us, but we will get through it. The pizza should be here soon, we can go inside, eat pizza, drink wine, watch one of our favorite movies and just.. Talk”
You smiled a little and nodded before leaning over to kiss him gently. “That sounds amazing, the last one inside is a rotten egg” you said with a smirk before getting out of the car quickly and running towards the front door.
Charles laughed and got out too, chasing after you in attempts to beat you inside, despite your head start.
When you had finally gotten inside, Charles bolted in closely behind you, throwing his arms around you as he caught his breath.
You laughed and placed your hands on his arms, also trying to catch your breath. “I win! What do I get for winning?”
Charles laughed and kissed your cheek, letting you go from his embrace. “Hmmm… I suppose you can pick the movie, as long as it’s not the notebook. I’ve been forced to watch that movie far too much”
“Hey! It’s a good movie!”
Charles laughed and walked over to the couch, flopping down on it as he tossed you the remote. “I never said it wasn’t a good movie, it’s just overplayed in this household.
“Fair enough” you said as you sat down beside him and began scrolling through the list of movies the two of you had created years back.
Movies, wine, and pizza had been a tradition the two of you started when you had first met nearly 8 years ago now. It had become a staple in your relationship, being what you always did together for every anniversary, birthday, or even after any sort of fight- the whole event had always made the two of you look back and reminisce on when you had first fallen in love all of those years ago.
When the doorbell rang, indicating that the pizza had arrived, Charles got himself off of the couch, heading to the door to greet the pizza man while you continued to scroll through movies.
By the time charles had returned back to the couch with a pizza box, a bottle of wine, and two wine glasses, you had finally settled on a movie.
“10 things I hate about you? The movie we watched on our first date?” Charles asked with a smile, sitting down beside you as he placed a piece of pizza onto his plate.
You smiled and poured the glasses of wine, nodding at Charles’ question. “I thought it would be nice. We haven’t watched it in ages”
Charles smiled and kissed you gently, taking a glass of wine from you as he handed you a plate of pizza. “It’s perfect, mon amour.”
After pressing play on the remote, the two of you sat in silence, eating your pizza and occasionally laughing at something said in the movie, doing your best to soak in the limited alone time with each other you had been granted.
When finished with your pizza, you cuddled up to Charles, wrapping your arms around his torso and resting your head on his shoulder. “Charles”
“Yeah?” he asked, rubbing your side gently as he took his attention off of the tv, looking down at you.
“I’ve missed this” you whispered, feeling yourself getting emotional as you thought back to all of the time you and Charles used to spend together-back before he got into F1, back before you had Juliette, back before life wasn’t so busy all of the time.
Charles placed his hand on your cheek and smiled gently “me too, my love. Me too.”
“I don’t think I ever realized how little time you and I spend together, the past three years have been such a routined lifestyle that I never realized how little time we spend alone together..”
Charles nodded, agreeing with everything you had just stated. “I know, that’s why I’ve been suggesting we let my mom take Juliette once in a while, it would be good for us, I miss you”
You smiled a little and snuggled back into his side, looking out the sliding glass doors that led to your balcony. “Do you really want another baby? I mean, do you think it’s what is best for us? Could we handle having two children and still be able to have time for each other?”
Charles rubbed your back gently, taking a moment as if he was trying to think or put together a sentence in his head. “I want another child, yes. I’d have three more children if you offered it to me. I love watching you be a mom, i’d do it over and over again”
“But what about us? We finally got comfortable with letting Juliette stay the night away from home, a new baby brings us back to square one, no?”
Charles shook his head “not necessarily, no. Juliette is our first born, we were a bit more cautious with her as we were new parents. With a second child, we would be more comfortable bringing them to the race track or letting them go to grandmas- we know what to expect now, it makes it easier for us”
You nodded a little, thinking about Charles’ words for a moment. “You really think so?”
Charles nodded “I know so, mon amour.”
You smiled a little and rested your head on his shoulder again. “Ok”
“Speaking of taking kids to the track, I was thinking about something”
“Oh that’s never good, but what were you thinking?”
Charles laughed and looked down at you “I wanted to know if you and Juliette would attend more races this season…I absolutely adored having you two by my side in Abu dhabi.. I’d love for that to be a more common occurrence…”
You smiled up at your boyfriend and nodded. “Yes, of course. I already planned on it”
Charles smiled and held you close again, turning his attention back towards the TV screen to catch the end of the movie.
-
The next 48 hours had flown by. You and Charles had gone grocery shopping together, went out to eat a few times, and even managed to slip out onto the boat one day, despite the cloudy skies that had hovered above monaco.
Juliette had called a few times, only to inform you of the new games her and Olivia had created throughout the day.
By the time Sunday night rolled around, you and Charles had been more than ready to pick up your little girl. Although the two of you had enjoyed your time alone together, you missed the crazy little girl who was constantly keeping you on your toes.
When Charles pulled into the driveway of his mothers house, you had quickly unbuckled and made your way up to the front door, Charles following close behind as you opened the door.
When you opened the door, you stepped inside and grabbed Charles’ hand, making your way to the dining room where Pascale had informed you they would be.
You walked over to your daughter who had been oblivious to your presence, and kissed the top of her cheek gently.
When Juliette put her fork down and looked up to see who was the culprit behind the kiss, her face lit up. “Maman!!” she practically yelled, standing up in her seat as she wrapped her arms around your neck, giving you a tight hug.
You smiled and hugged Juliette tightly, placing a kiss on her cheek as you did so. “I missed you so much, Jules. So so much”
Juliette giggled and moved on to hug Charles as well. “I missed you both!!”
“Did you have fun with grandma?” Charles asked, scooping Juliette up in his arms.
Juliette nodded “and Olivia, too, but I missed you” she frowned.
You wrapped your arms around Charles and Juliette, taking in the moment and enjoying the fact that you had both of your favorite people in your arms again. “Papa and I missed you, too, sweetie. So much” you whispered.

->Charles dresses up as Santa at the end of the year gala, but your little Juliette catches you kissing Santa.
word count: 1835
warnings: not proof read, probably incredibly cheesy, mentions of deep kisses
A/N: this is from the same universe as 'missing home' so many of you love that story and ask for more, so here is another writing of that!
The end of the year prize giving gala was a newer tradition for your family. In years past, Charles had always finished fourth or lower in the championship standings, meaning he didn’t earn an invite to the gala. This year was different though.
With Charles winning the title this year, it meant that he was due to be the star of this year's gala. He wasn’t exactly thrilled about it, events like this were never something he typically enjoyed, but he was thankful that he would at least get to spend the long evening with both you and little Juliette.
You had dressed yourself in a long forest green gown, one that matched the color of Charles’ tie. The sleeves were puffed, giving the gown more of a disney princess look. You paired the dress with a small pair of nude heels, as well as a diamond necklace and earrings that Charles had gifted to you as a push present when you had Juliette.
Juliette was dressed in a pink dress- one that she had picked out herself just for this very event- as well as small black flats and some skin toned tights. She was so excited for this event, as she had been told that she would get to see her papa receive his big trophy.
When you arrived at the gala, the limo pulled up at the end of the red carpet, allowing you to go straight to the interviews and photographers on your way into the building, where no media personnel were allowed- thank god.
Charles climbed out of the limo first, acting as a wall to protect you and Juliette from any photographers just in case either of you had a wardrobe malfunction while climbing out.
You climbed out after Charles, fixing your dress quickly before picking Juliette up into your arms. You and Charles both knew that the red carpet was going to be the hardest part of the night for Juliette. She hated all the flashing lights and all of the people calling her name. No matter how often it happened around her, she still had yet to get used to it.
As the three of you approached the spot where photos were allowed you be taken, Juliette wrapped her little arms around your neck and buried her face into your shoulder, shielding herself from all of the commotion.
You let the photographers snap a few photos of the three of you, before you let go of Charles' hand and indicated that you were going to step inside to allow Juliette calm down before the event started.
When you made it into the building, you quickly found your assigned table- right up front, close to the stage as expected- and sat down, placing little Juliette in your lap. “Are you ok, Jules?”
Juliette looked up at you and nodded a little, rubbing her damp eyes a little. “Where is papa?” she asked, looking around for Charles in a bit of a panic.
“He went to get you some juice, baby” you said softly before placing a kiss on her forehead. “Did you know that Santa is going to be here tonight?”
Juliette's entire face lit up as she looked up at you. Due to the fact that the gala was so close to Christmas, one of the directors of the event had asked Charles if he would dress up as Santa towards the end of the show for all of the children in the audience to see. Charles agreed, figuring that would be the only entertaining part of the show anyways.
“Santa? When is Santa gonna be here, maman??”
“After papa gets his trophy later, so we have to be patient ok?”
Juliette nodded and cuddled into you a bit, waiting for Charles to get back with her juice.
After what felt like an eternity, Charles had finally made his way inside, not without drinks for you, him, and of course Juliette.
“Those interviewers have a lot of questions, let me tell ya” Charles mumbled as he sat down, putting the straw into the juice box for Jules. “Here honey” he said as he handed the juice box to Juliette, making sure she had a hold of it before letting go.
“Grazie, papa!” Juliette said before taking a sip.
You let out a chuckle, knowing that your daughter could speak Italian better than french, even though she lived in a french speaking country.
“Prego, dolcezza” Charles said before kissing her temple.
The gala was extremely boring, as predicted, but Juliette had remained well behaved the entire time. She would occasionally get impatient and ask when Santa would be coming on stage, but other than that, she was quiet and focused on the stage in front of her.
When it was time to get Charles changed into the Santa suit, you turned to Carlos and Isa. “would you mind watching Juliette while I go help Charles with getting changed?” you whispered, not wanting to disturb the person giving a speech onstage, nor did you want little Juliette to hear you either.
“Of course not, come see Zio Carlos, Juliette!”
Juliette giggled and held her arms out towards Carlos, cuddling into him once he had a hold of her.
You got out of your seat and followed Charles to the small room in the far back of the building where they had told Charles it would be safe to change in.
“I can’t believe how well behaved Juliette has been. I was expecting a tantrum or two by now” charles said with a laugh as he started putting the large Santa suit on.
“Well I may or may not have bribed her with the fact that Santa would be on stage at the end of the night…”
Charles laughed and shook his head. “I can’t believe she even got excited about santa. Last year, she was terrified of him when we tried to do our pictures with him at the mall”
You laughed a little as you buttoned up the suit for Charles. “I know, but this year she has had such an interest in christmas and in santa.. It’s like now that she is three years old, she finally understands it all, you know?”
Charles nodded and started putting the fake Santa beard on his face. “I can’t believe she’s getting to be so big…I feel like every time I turn around she is taller and smarter… it’s not fair” he said with a pout.
You laughed and put the santa hat on his head, completing the santa costume. “I know.. It makes me sad…”
Charles smirked and pulled you in closer “Guess that means we have to have another.. No?”
You smiled and kissed him deeply, indicating that you wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of another little you or little him running around.
Halfway through the kiss, you heard the door to the room creek open, followed by a small little scream. You turned around to find little Juliette standing in the doorway, tears rolling down her cheeks as she pointed at you and Charles.. Well.. santa.
You knelt down in front of your daughter and pulled her into a hug in an effort to calm her down a bit. “Sweetheart, what’s the matter? Why are you crying?”
“Y-you kissed… santa!! Papa is gonna be sad!!”
You looked at Charles over Juliette’s shoulder, doing your absolute best not to let out a laugh at your daughter’s reasoning behind being so upset. “Darling, I wasn’t kissing santa. I was telling him a secret!”
Juliette pulled from the hug and looked at you, her eyes curious as to what secret you were referring to. “A secret?” she asked before sniffling a bit. “What secret?”
“I was telling Santa how you’ve been such a good girl all night.. And how you deserve lots of presents”
Juliette giggled and looked over at Charles “I have, Santa!!”
Charles knelt down to Juliette and smiled, changing the tone of his voice before speaking to her. “I’m very glad, Juliette, you can expect lots of gifts under your tree on christmas morning. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a special appearance I have to make on stage. Merry Christmas, Juliette!”
“Merry Christmas, Santa!”
You picked Juliette up and carried her back to the table, with Isa walking beside you. “I’m sorry, she saw you in the doorway and took off running, I was just trying to take her to get a juice box”
You shook your head, indicating that you weren’t mad at all. “Oh don’t worry, she does that to me all the time. Don’t be sorry” you said before sitting back down in your seat, just in time for Charles to walk back onto the stage, this time dressed as santa.
Juliette hadn’t noticed that Charles wasn’t around, which you were incredibly thankful for because if she did notice, it meant one more lie you had to make up on the spot tonight, and you simply didn’t have the energy for that.
After giving a quick wave and a “ho, ho ho, merry christmas” to the audience, charles left the stage and went back to change out of the itchy red costume with the help of Carlos this time.
By the time Charles had gotten back to the limo, Juliette was sound asleep in her car seat, not moving an inch when Charles got in, despite how loudly he was talking.
“Sorry it took so long, the last button got stuck or something, I don’t know. I was worried I was going to be stuck in that thing forever” he said with a little laugh.
“It’s alright, I think the night wore Juliette out”
“I’d say so. Did she bring up the fact that you were kissing Santa again?”
You shook your head before leaning it against Charles’ shoulder. “Nope, thank goodness. She didn’t even notice that you weren’t at the table with us either, which I was also thankful for because I had already lied enough to her today.”
Charles smiled and placed a gentle kiss on your lips. “You’re such a good mom, mon amour.”
You smiled and pulled him into another kiss, making this one last a bit longer than the first. “Am I?”
Charles smirked and nodded, his forehead resting against yours. “Mhm. Such a good mom that I’d love to have another little you or me around this time next year… what do you think?”
You laughed and squeezed his hand tightly. “I finally get to come back to the racetrack and now you want to put me on the sidelines again?”
Charles shook his head. “No, I think this time around we know what to expect so we can be more prepared and let the baby tag along to races.. Or leave the kids with grandma…”
You laughed and cuddled back into his side again. “Alrighty then, mr. claus. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if we can get a Christmas miracle.”

For the past couple of years, the holidays have been both your favorite and least favorite time of the year.
For the past couple of years, the holidays have been both your favorite and least favorite time of the year.
You loved decorating your home with all of the cozy christmas decor, allowing your three children to add their own special touches here and there.
You loved sitting on the couch, all three kids piled in your lap as you watched the grinch, which was by far your children’s favorite holiday movie.
You loved watching the way your children’s faces light up as they watched the snow fall, each of them growing eager to get outside to build snowmen and make snow angels in the soft snow.
You loved buying all of the gifts for your children, knowing how much they would love each and every gift as they unwrapped it.
However, every year without fail, there was always one thing missing- Seb.
With a busy career in Formula 1, Seb was hardly ever home. It was probably partially your fault, you had wanted to remain living in Switzerland, even though the Aston Martin factory was in the UK. This made it incredibly difficult for Seb to come home in between races, as he oftentimes had to go straight to the factory and then right to the next race shortly after that.
This season in particular had been extra tough. With Aston Martin building a horrible car- one that barely made it past p15 on a good weekend- it meant more debriefs, more nights in the garage trying to find areas to improve, and more time away from home.
Your children had noticed Sebastian’s absence, your oldest specifically. In previous years, seb had usually come home for at least a night or two a week, but this year he would go weeks without coming home for a visit.
By the seventh race of the season, Seb had very quickly lost the desire to be in the race car. He hated being away from you and the kids, missing out on all of the little things in their lives. He hated how much of a struggle it was to even get the car to the finish line most weekends. He hated the embarrassment that came with bad result after bad result, feeling as though maybe he had lost his talent, even though everyone knew it was in fact his car that was the problem.
When Sebastian had called you randomly one night and mentioned the desire to retire, you were a bit shocked. Sebastian had only turned 35 the week prior, which was still considerably young in the formula 1 world.
Sebastian had assured you that it was what he wanted, but even after hanging up the phone, you were sure it was just a spur of the moment idea after a bad result.
When Sebastian had finally announced his retirement from Formula 1, you still hadn’t believed him. How could he so easily just walk away from something that he had spent his entire life doing- with seemingly no emotion about leaving the sport.
But after seeing him come through the front door after being away from home for two months, you had very quickly realized the toll it had taken on your husband.
His last race was incredible- he had an excellent qualifying run, somehow finding pace in his tractor of a car. He had a pretty simple race, battling it out with a few of the other cars on track, but not really having to put up a fight for the most part.
When he crossed the line tenth, you couldn’t help but feel relieved that he was able to score his last point in his last race in the sport. It was a great weekend all in all.
Flash forward almost a month later and for the first time since meeting Seb, he was home for the entire holiday season.
Sebastian had helped you and the kids decorate the house for Christmas for the first time, watching as the kids put their ornaments on their tree.
Sebastian had cuddled up on the couch with the four of you, watching the grinch way past the children’s bed time.
For the first time, Sebastian had seen the glow of the children’s faces as they saw snow fall from the grey clouded sky, your two daughters practically begging seb to build snowmen with them- which he in fact did.
Sebastian helped you pick out the presents, he even helped you wrap all of them too- something that you had previously done completely alone.
Christmas morning had rolled around, the kids had finished opening all of their gifts, your son needing help to do so as he was only two years old and didn’t fully understand the concept of unwrapping presents.
As you sat back on the couch, your legs resting in Sebastian’s lap while you sipped on your cup of coffee, you watched the three children play with their new toys, getting along quite well while doing so.
“I think retiring was the best decision I could have possibly made. Part of me wishes I would have done it sooner” Seb whispered, his hand rubbing your shoulder gently.
“Why is that?” you asked, turning your attention from the children on the floor over to seb.
“I missed out on this so many years in a row. I mean, I was here for christmas day, but never for the entire process that goes into christmas, you know? I can’t believe I never got to watch the kids do the simplest thing like decorate christmas cookies or build snowmen.. I just feel like I've missed out on so much..”
You placed your hand on seb’s cheek and nodded. “I know. But you’re here now, that’s all that matters.”
Seb smiled a little and looked up at you, a mischievous grin on his face.
“Why are you looking at me like that”
“Well… we could have another… then I can be here for every single first…”
You laughed and rolled your eyes, taking another sip of your coffee. “Yeah but what if you decide to pull a Michael Schumacher and go back?”
“Oh that won’t be happening”
“Michael said the same thing, you know”
“Yes but I’m not Michael. Will you at least consider it?”
You laughed and kissed his cheek. “Sure, i’ll consider it”

the rain gently bounced onto the rooftop and the wind gently swayed the trees surrounding your home, creating some sort of a whistle sound as you laid in Toto’s arms. though you enjoyed the sounds of the storm outside, you knew it would only be a matter of time before your little boy would wake up from the noise he always feared.
alexander had been afraid of storms since he was a baby, never enjoying the sounds of the wind whistling through the air or the thunder cracking in the sky. you had assumed that he might grow out of that fear as he got older, but now that he was pushing two, the fear still remained.
toto woke up when he felt you move a bit in his arms. “schatz?” he mumbled, giving you a tight squeeze as he buried his face in the crook of your neck.
“sorry, i didn’t mean to wake you” you whispered, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead.
toto shook his head pulling the covers up a bit more. “don’t apologize”
you laid there for a moment, admiring how cuddly your husband was being that night. despite the fans of formula 1 seeing toto as a tough, serious man-which he was when he needed to be- toto was actually somewhat of a softie when it came to you and alex, though he would never admit such a thing out loud. “i love when you’re cuddly like this, meine liebe” you whispered, running a hand through his hair gently.
toto smiled gently against your skin, his head still resting in the crook of your neck. “i missed you, i can’t help it”
just as you were about to respond, a crack of thunder rumbled through the house, earning a small screech as well as a cry from your son. you frowned and kissed the top of toto’s head “i’ll be back”
toto shook his head, placing a kiss to your lips. “i’ll get him, you stay here” he said before climbing out of bed and making his way towards your sons room which was just across the hall.
when toto walked in, alex stood up in his crib, holding his arms out for toto as he sobbed with his pacifier in his mouth. “papa!”
toto frowned at the sight of his son so distraught, walking to him as quickly as he could. “shhh” toto said, picking alex up and holding him close to his chest. “papa hat dich” he whispered against the top of alex’s head before placing a gentle kiss onto his hair. (dad’s got you)
alex relaxed in toto’s arms, his head resting on toyo’s shoulder as his crying stopped and his breathing became normal again.
toto wrapped alex’s baby blanket around him and rubbed his back gently, making his way back across the hall to your room. “how about a sleep over with mama and papa?” alex gave a gentle nod, cuddling further into toto as he looked over at you.
you gave alex a small smile, kissing the top of his head as toto climbed into bed with alex in his arms. you cuddled up to toto and alex, pulling the covers carefully over the three of you as you rested your head on toto’s shoulder.
alex sniffled a little, rubbing his eyes as he laid his head back on toto’s chest, his free hand holding onto your finger tightly-something had always done since he was little.
the next couple of minutes were spent reassuring alex that everything was going to be ok- that the loud noises in the sky weren’t harmful or dangerous- and spending some time together as a family that you didn’t know you needed so badly.
after about 20 minutes of reassuring promises, alex had finally fallen asleep in toto’s arms, his pacifier in his mouth and his baby blanket clutched in his hand.
you looked up at toto and smiled gently before leaning forward to place a kiss on his lips. “watching you be a dad is my favorite thing in the whole world”
“yeah?”
“yeah” you said with a smile as you closed your eyes.
