In the beginning of the movie, Ella saves a little caterpillar. Throughout the movie the caterpillar metamorphizes into a monarch butterfly, and since she saved him, he becomes Ella's Fabulous Godmother. I like that there's actually a reason for Ella getting a godparent. Plus the Fabulous Godmother *is* incredibly fabulous. His outfit is immaculate from his shimmery coat to his glittery heels, and the song that he sings with Ella and the mice is so upbeat and fun. Plus, Billie Porter (who plays the Fabulous Godmother) has an amazing voice.

So, I'm sure a lot of you know about the new Cinderella coming out that replaces the Fairy Godmother with a genderless person called "Fab G".

I for one, am appalled that they would do this to such a wonderful character.

The Godmother gives the motherly affection that Ella had been deprived from for years. She lets Cinderella pursue her love and covers for her. She gives Cinderella wonderful gifts like the most beautiful dress, horse and carriage, footmen, and a lovely pair of glass symbols. The Fairy Godmother has all the characteristics of a loving mother that Ella had lost.

and they replace her with a man. A man usually does not have the same empathy or caring that a mother has. Not only do they replace her with a man, they make a mockery out of women hood by putting this man in a dress.
