So my mother had her credit card information stolen because she bought junk off Facebook and despite my attempts to explain that all Facebook shops are scams she still bought more. Is there a good book I can get her that explains credit card and similar scams to try and help her understand how they work? I've tried to get her to watch some videos but no luck, a book might be easier. Any suggestions?

—it’s a scam. And we’ve traced it to Karachi, Pakistan.

🔍 How it works:

Scammers invent fake names (Jimena Zarco, Tyler Wolfgang) and Gmail addresses

They steal real photos of U.S. contractors—often with visible phone numbers/logos on uniforms

They claim to serve your town… but digital forensics place them in North Nazimabad and near Federal Urdu University

They pressure you to pay upfront via Zelle/gift cards… then vanish

This isn’t “side-hustle” entrepreneurship. It’s transnational fraud that:

Steals the identity of honest small businesses

Preys on trust in tight-knit communities

Violates U.S. FTC rules + Pakistan’s cybercrime laws

We reached out for comment. No response.

Yes, a lot of the likes and comments are from other spam or scam accounts, but not all of them.

Teach the people in your life how to spot AI art and how to spot scammer and spam accounts.

The other day I got a spam message on Facebook

It was written entirely in a different language, and then there was a link that was 40 lines long and the thumbnail was just a picture of a big stack of cash with a red bow

So now I guess we're just entering The Bugs Bunny Era of digital scamming

Second one in a little over a week, man the FB impersonators/scammers are desperate.

(Note, I'm pretty suspicious of other people by default and the people they're impersonating never send me a "Hey how are ya" out of the blue. Maybe some political meme or one of those "pass this FB hug to 20 people on your friends list 🥰" thing, but that's it. So, they're already raising red flags with just that.)

I didn't even bother giving him the time of day after he failed to answer my question and the answer was blatant bullshit, just blocked/reported him and let my family friend know he was being impersonated so he could inform others on his friends list.
