Random thought I had about faes as I was picturing something way later down the line potentially for a story. (And I mean way later)
I feel it’s a fairly common trope that when making a deal with a fae, they want you to promise them your firstborn. I pose the following questions.
1. What do faes even want with a newborn? Like what do they do with them? Raise them? For what? More warlocks? Is this how fae reproduce?
2. Do, in general, fae not accept the first born deal from men, since what’s stopping them from going to 5 different towns, seducing 10 different women and just figure at least one of them ends up pregnant and not tell them. So after she has the baby the fae just shows up and says, ‘yeah that’s mine.’ And whoever the unlucky woman is just lost her baby from a deal she had no clue about?
3. (Sort of a 2.5) say a man did this, but then the woman had also made the same deal to a different fae. Is there some sort of custody battle?
