For those that haven’t set a fitness goal yet, here’s a reminder of Day 3 of our 3 day goal setting. . New Year Goal Setting - Day 3 . When it comes to goal setting, it sounds great to say I want to lose 5 stone for example, but that is not going to happen over a couple of weeks. The same goes for losing 10 pounds in a week, any people out there selling some ridiculous product that says you can is just not telling you the full truth, there is no magical, wonder pill, water, wrap that can actually do this for you LONG TERM. I stress long term because sure you can starve yourself by eating 3 ‘fat binding’ capsules a day of course you are going to lose weight, but as soon as you eat regularly you will gain much more, surely if these things actually worked there wouldn’t be an obesity epidemic in this country, think about it. I’m sorry to say it will take time and that time will vary from person-to-person depending on a whole range of factors. Don’t be taken in by setting your self big unrealistic goals. . At the beginning of this book we spoke about the need to set small, short term, achievable goals, and thats what you’ve got to do. You can use SMART goals to do this. . So now you understand bit more about setting realistic goals it’s time to think about your personal goals. Be honest with yourself, its great to say ‘I am going to exercise for 30 minutes 5 times a week’. . Are you? . Can you? . If you are going to succeed be realistic, life is busy, life is hard, life throws you the unexpected, you need to ask yourself. . -How much time can I commit to working out? -How much time can I commit to preparing meals? -Am I spending a lot of my time doing other activities that are detrimental to my goal? -Am I overcommitting? . Remember these goals are there to motivate you not frustrate you, not to put you off, not to make you sad. Making them realistic is what will keep you going, small, short term, attainable goals which will ultimately lead you to your ultimate goal. . **Need some extra help and guidance?
