Clary and Simon are so ignored. Like, this boy followed his best friend into a world he saw full of madmen, just for her sake. Didn't leave her side even though he turned into a vampire and then lost his memories. Even when he wasn't sure of who she was, he chose to save her over himself even when he was drugged, and she did the same for him.
Clary literally created the Mark of Cain to keep him from danger. She snapped out of her happiest dream because Simon wasn't there.
This is starting ro feel like a redundant point, but Edom again.
CLARY AND SIMON ARE THE GOAT. They're so classic childhood friends to staying friends into adulthood and I love them. They even have that one slip-up moment of "wait do we have romantic feelings for each other? uh no let's not-". They kinda remind me of myself and my bff (save for the cringefail dating plot).
There's something special about a friendship maintained over such a long period of time and you can feel the love Cassie has for these two seeping through the page. Clary and Simon are some of the best written TMI characters in my opinion. They're less flashy or tropey than some of the others but still manage to stand out clearly. They just have that perfect dynamic and I loved them especially in CoLS.
They also illustrate very well what's the actual foundation of the parabatai bond; that it's not really the magic that makes people close, but rather the established relationship being necessary for the parabatai bond to build on it.
I think they're rivalling Heronstairs as my second place parabatai atp, but I'd need to reread TMI & TID to get clear on that.
