I am not going to lie, probably I would do the same in their places, too - and I actually really like they do it - for example with Novac. I cannot exactly say why but I really like they do like this
I recently finished my Fallout 4 Playthrough from 2021-2025, totaling in at about 11 days and 12 hours before the glitches started to crash through the walls. To commemorate it, I drew my character: Eric Morgue as a Vault Boy :D

Over my weekend I wanted to really make the Castle feel like a real established place for the Minutemen. In this timeline the Institute was destroyed by the Sole Survivor - Gregory joined the Minutemen after they rebuilt the Castle into what it is now. These pictures don't really do it justice imho but I wanted to share my idea of a more organized and powerful Minutemen :]
