Mettono su casa senza il minimo entusiasmo, organizzano il matrimonio con ansie e rassegnazione, e mettono al mondo figli perché "è così che si fa". Così perlomeno sarà la volta buona che saranno a posto e che nessuno farà più commenti. Ci riduciamo a questo per non sentirci strani, diversi, sbagliati e soli, ed è una cosa che capisco perfettamente e che non giudico, solo compatisco [Dal lat. cristiano compăti, calco sul gr. sympáskhō 'soffro insieme' - sec. XIV] e non la giudico perché sento anch'io le medesime pressioni dall'esterno (ma anche da un super-io giudicante e scassaballe che dice "tttuuu dovrestiiiii...") e so che cosa vuol dire sentirsi sempre indietro, senza alibi sufficienti a giustificarti davanti al mondo, un po' con le spalle al muro della propria inadeguatezza.

(Che poi, voglio dire, è un po' un false friend nella lingua della vita, che una volta raggiunti certi "traguardi" gli altri smettano di farci osservazioni e che noi stessi smettiamo di avere lamentele)...

There is this amusing string of Russian-French false friends that every French learner of Russian learns about (and maybe the other way round, though I don’t have firsthand experience of it), it’s that the word магазин translates in French to magasin (store), and not to its homophone magazine, which translates in Russian to журнал, which in turn is not the same thing as the French journal (newspaper), which translates to газета, which sounds like gazette of which, at last, it would be an accurate translation.

When I went to Colson’s (aka MGK) concert back in August in London and I ask a girl, who is a professional makeup artist, if she could do a nice natural makeup look for me for the concert which she did (and it looked great). Anyhow, when she came to my home and I offered her some food because we’d be there for a while and I try to be a good host. She told me if I ever would like to meet up with her and her friend to just text her. I texted her a few times but she always dismissed me... I even asked her if she could teach me how to apply it and give me tips and such. This was before I quit my job and when I did quit I told her that I had no job because she asked me if I was still interested in the course and this past Monday she asked me again!! I told her I would get back to her if and when I wanted to do it.

I really thought we could be friends but after seeing how she dismissed me like that and the fact that through my life I’ve learned that perfect girls don’t hang out with fat girls showed me that she never wanted to be friends with me since the beginning and was just showing me pity...
