Wank Wednesday: Hannibal Twitter Wars

For this week's Wank Wednesday, we're talking about Hannibal Twitter Wars.

On 6 October 2020, Twitter fanartist enercarlate posted a NSFW Hannigram fanart of Hannibal giving a blowjob to Will. The same day, Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller liked the tweet and responded with "!!!".

Fuller is known for his interaction with fandom and with fanworks in particular, but his short response sparked a controversy big enough to be noticed by The Mary Sue, who later shared a dedicated article about this incidence.

Featured Article: Omegaverse Litigation

For this week’s Featured Article, we’re spotlighting Omegaverse Litigation, a commonly used phrase describing the lawsuits involving two authors: Zoey Ellis and Addison Cain, both of whom wrote romance/erotica novels with "omegaverse" tropes. The lawsuits and their subsequent publicity prompted an increase of news coverage on “mainstream" media outlets regarding this formerly obscure kink trope.

While the case closed in July of 2020, it continues to be widely discussed online, with many people discovering the existence and history of Omegaverse tropes for the first time via these lawsuits.
